My thoughts are that it looks pretty good. I think only 4 interstate is a good result including Perth and Adelaide only once each and as you say, the last 7 in Victoria including the last 3 in Geelong. We'd be favoured to win 8 of the first 12 and with the run home, should be a good shot at the top 4.

The only obvious downsides I can see are playing Port and St Kilda twice, with both St Kilda games at Telstra. It's like giving them two home games!

6 friday night games.....AWESOME

Great for the fans, membership and sponsers

no games at the 'g' after round 3 isnt good though

I'm happy with the draw overall.

The only concerns are the Sunday games at Skilled, and the fact that we effectively give Essendon and St. Kilda two home games against us.

Do Geelong have a contract in place to play all our Melbourne home games at Telstra Dome? or do Geelong prefer TD over MCG.

fairly tough batch of teams that we have to play twice, i feel.

only 2 realtivly easy teams in that list. 4 of the others were in my top 8 for 2005, essendon being the only team not in. I dont like the idea of playing stkilda twice @ the t.d.

Only for those who reside in Geelong.

Actually it's hard for the people who live on the otherside of Geelong [ i.e Colac/Warrnambool etc ]
A lot of them would be unable to attend due to the fact trains don't go that far after a certain time.

I like the draw, but why are we playing Melbourne at the G under lights ?
Thats not exactly going to be a huge crowd drawer.
At least it's not our home game.

Playing saints and bombers twice on their home grounds isnt that appealing. Possibly we can command the roof being open when its our home game

First impressions. I'm pretty happy with it.

The last three matches at home will ease us nicely into the finals, should we be in such a position. The last match a 'blockbuster' according to AFL.com.au, despite it being played at Geelong. The only concern there would be that if August is wet next year, then we could be tiring after playing three matches in hard conditions, something our potential finals opponents probably wont be suffering from.

Like the season just gone, the toughest period will be the first 7 matches, with away matches against West Coast and Port and 'tough' matches against St Kilda, Essendon and Melbourne at the G.

Conversely the return matches of Port, West Coast and Melbourne will be completely different affairs alter in the season.

Not worried about playing Saints or Essendon at the dome twice. With nine matches at the dome, it's definitely our 2nd home so we won't be sporting any real advantage to these teams. Anyway I don't rate Essendon as that big a threat (relatively) this season.

Only 4 interstate matches. That is a definite plus, and I'm looking forward to taking it up to the Lions at the Gabba. Just the sort of challenge that makes the season interesting.

6 Friday night matches is also a great result for the club. It doesn't matter that none are our 'home' matches as it will give great exposure to Geelong, the 'brand'. It is also a sign that the AFL thinks that we are an attractive team.

Nice finish to the 22 rounds, no interstate travel for over a month :D

very happy with the draw. There are a few things that arn't great but oh well can't have everything. I found it stupid how we play at the 'G' twice in the first three rounds and then not again for the rest of the season but i suppose we got 6 friday night matches so that's still good.....looking forward to the 'dogs' match in round 6 so then we get to see the new stand( just a question: does anyone know how many more seats there will be once the stand is opened?)
im not worried about playing essendon or the saints twice at the dome as we usually play fairly well there. But if saints play great there like they did this season then i may get a bit worried...
