Seems as though the NAB cup won't be given as much emphasis as previous years, based on some comments that Ratten made. It's a good idea IMO, as the players will come into the season fresher and also finish off the year a little easier.

"Most of our players have always played in the NAB Cup and played most of the games," Ratten told the Sunday Herald Sun.
"We need to sit down and individualise it. "

"If Chris's body allows him to play three NAB Cup games, we will sit down and crunch the numbers and say, 'If you play here you might miss out at the back end of the season'.
"We will look after him, and he probably won't play the first NAB Cup game. But from there on we will just see where his body is at.

Do we play him for a half? We will manage him accordingly, like all our playing list. Brendan [Fevola] hasn't missed too many of the NAB Cup games, but he might play some halves, too."

If memory serves me correctly, he also mentioned something to this effect in a recent interview, either the Judd press conference, or CFC Tv.

Good.... the club really needs to focus on Round 1 and beyond. Use the NAB Cup to get players fit and firing....

Yeah the first NAB Cup game is for the kids to prove their worth, players who need to run into form early and older fringe players to show something. Players like Stevens, Judd, Fevola have all had operations and need to run halves in games and be 100% for round 1.

Ratten pretty much said they're not taking it seriously. We know we have the talent now, and don't need to prove it to anyone before the season starts. The focus is on the season proper and injury management which is crucial. The NAB Cup will provide Ratten and the other coaches with a chance to try out some players, and experiment with some tactics. Now that we have all this talent, the focus is shifting onto the coaching and development staff, to make sure we're able to realise the potential on our list. They won't admit it, but the Blues are aiming for finals in 2008 without question. :)

Definitely blood the kids. Will actually be disappointed if we win the NAB Cup next year.

I wouldnt mind the dvd so i can put it on and see Judd running out in our colours so i realise that it isnt a dream.

NAB cup is the time to put all the kids in the team. I think it would be good Kreuzer to get a go in the first match against a hopefully less that full-strength team. Doubt Judd would play because it would cut his season short.

I'd like to see Grigg & Bower & Jackson line-up as i believe they are all great prospects. Don't expect to win or want to win it. I just think it's a competition to blood the youngsters and that's it.

I will say one thing, play the Kreuz!!!;):thumbsu:
