Hi I need a boring tax question answered hopefully..

My situation is that I leave my workplace in Australia in Mid May.. at the moment I will get paid out around $9000 from unused Annual leave and then working this out the Tax will be around $2800.. I work for some accounting software so I have doubled checked these figures...

Now at the start of June I am moving to the UK and will lodge my Tax return via E-Tax and roughly working out how much I will receive back will be about $1500.. Give or take some obviously .. Now to save hassles for that Termination Pay can I asked the tax to be reduced to say $1500 for example to cancel out the tax return I will receive.. Therefore reducing that amount to around $0 again give or take some..

Hopefully I have made some sense here...Cheers in Advance..

You can ask you employer to change the withholding tax, but you would have to be pretty friendly to arrange it for this amount. It is possible however, as long as you employer agrees. Or you just do your tax which you need to do anyway, put in your EFT details and the refund will be transferred into your bank and get your N.O.A sent to your parents.

Thanks
