next year we should have the leagues ranked by there scores from this year. so we get the best in league 1 and the not so great in div 6+ this would make for a super league.

they probably will be, ie, same as DT board, but i'm sure newer people or other's who missed out this year could still get in a good league if their rankings were high enough...and it'd probably more of top rankers getting first priority to a top league rather than definite.

Yes, Kildonan mentioned it will be ranked properley next year, largely based on overall ranking.

overall ranking in the leagues we are currently in now? or position at the end of the year?

Yes, Kildonan mentioned it will be ranked properley next year, largely based on overall ranking.

This is what i didn't understand about playing in a randomly ranked league for a full year. We are just going for overall score to be sorted into leagues next year and from there we will have a promotion/relagation system.

Why didn't people just post their rankings from last year. Those people could be sorted into leagues based on last years performance and then people who are new to SC could go straight to the lower leagues. But instead of doing this, we're wasting a year to do effectively the same thing. Next year we're going to have new people come in and so they will go straight into properly ranked leagues, unless we say only people that played this year can join next year (which i doubt will happen).

I just don't understand why we couldn't go straight into properly ranked leagues this year.

From my understanding div 1 & 2 were already made up b4 this section was created then div 3 ,4 & i think 5 were sorted as per the year b4 rankings that we posted in the original thread http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/showthread.php?t=419838
Then div 6 came along after these other divisions were created so it was mixed with whoever came along regardless of previous rankings.
Hope this makes sense:)

Ah ok Hawkmad that makes sense. But if we are already ranked into proper leagues, then why don't we just have the proper relogation/promotions at the end of this year. Rather than being ranked a second time. Or is this just the way it will operate?

Because the leagues are not really done by ranking. As someone said 1 and 2 were already done and then 3 and 4 were done by ranking and 5 and 6 were just first in. It's like this because when i started div. 1 i had no idea i would end up making 6 leagues. I think ladder position should have some affect on what league teams are in next year and this will probably be sorted out towards the end of this year.

The DT and SC leagues were put together rather randomly this year for various reasons, not the least of which was that I moved house from Mackay to Ipswich and started work in a major Pathology Laboratory - the transitional period really sapped my BigFooty time.

I had the good fortune of having Foxy_dal and Rota69 do a fair bit of organising in my absence.

The lost time and the already created leagues made collecting a huge list of posters interested in placement in a league difficult. Players were unsure of their scores or gave us unlikely scores / positions.

This season is the season we had to have in order to work out the logistics of doing it right next season. '09 is going to be a ripper of a year for DT and SC. Every club board will be invited into a club comp which will be run annually from then on. A perpetual trophy and a hall of fame will recognise the efforts of participants.

The real biggy is the main SC and DT comps which will be constructed from the results of this year's competition. Players wanting to get in a league from outside of BigFooty will be welcome, but they will fall into the league below where their scores would have got them - giving priority to long term BigFooty participants (rewarding loyalty). This also prevents a "ring in" from an opposition board signing up for our comp then deliberately dropping out giving us a zero score for player 16.

Rather than just rankings determining leagues for next year, why not have a minimum finish for each league.

ie for the Div one next year, a minimum overall ranking of 500
div 2 would be say 1000
div3 2500
div 4 5000

players retain their spot each year by making the cutoff.

If they have a bad year they drop to a lower division.

Make it a first to register with minmum score requirement basis.

eg Joe finishes the year with ranking 468, indicates he wants to be in Div one.
John was in Div one this year finished 525, goes into Div two.

Assuming more than 16 indicate eligibility and interest, the cutoff scores are reduced.

Leagues would be finalised by around wk 2 of the preseason cup.

Late entrants go into the highest league they qualify for.

People that participated this year should get the first invitations to fill the new leagues.

Thoughts, discussion welcome
