Which of the current squad would get a game in the 2010 Collingwood Premiership Side?

Here are my changes:
Out: Wellingham, Beams, Blair, Macaffer, Goldsack and Brown (Leigh)
In: Treloar, Adams, Wells, Elliott, Howe and Grundy

B: Maxwell Brown Toovey
HB: O'Brien Reid Shaw
C: Wells Swan Johnson
HF: Didak Cloke Ball
F: Elliott Dawes Sidebottom
Foll: Jolly Pendlebury Thomas
Int:Treloar Adams Howe Grundy

In the context of support from such a powerful forward line I'd be happy in drop in Moore at the expense of Dawes. Dawes was useful in 2010 but had none of the x-factor that Darcy Moore brings.

Leigh Brown stays in.

In 2010-11 he averaged 50% contested positions, had 100 hitouts, kicked 20 goals and layed 3.5 heavy tackles that stuck... not to mention the chasing and bumps... pressure acts that put Plugger-like fear into opposition defenders. Our forward pressure began to slip away after he left.

Would probably have Dunn in for N Brown. Dunn does the same shut down role but with more strings to his bow.

Uncomfortable about H remaining in the line up.... but that rebounding back has been a difficult position for us to adequately fill in recent years.

Beams of 2010?
Would definitely take the Adams of 2018 over Beams 2010

Would also take the Pendles of 2010 over Pendles of 2018. Reid of 2010 also gets in over Reid of 2018. Sidey of 2018 clearly over Sidey 2010

I think your team is pretty spot on

I assume you would use Pendles and Reid of 2010 and Sidey of 2018.

So for me the 2018 players are Your 6 named plus Sidey. So 7 from 2018 and 15 from 2010. Sounds about right for where the 2 sides are at. Be interesting how many chancges we would make once 2018 done. More hopefully De Goey, Moore, Cox (wishful) maybe, Pendles and Reid circa 2018 for nostalgia.

I would have Jonno over Maynard every day of the week down back.
Interesting one for is Wellingham, who l would go with over Degoey because of the speed he had, not that l believe he is that much better.
Wellingham had a very good grand final.

It seems I'm alone, but 'd have the current Pendles over the 2010 Pendles.

Think you are rewriting 2010 history. H was terrific that year.
He was very good that year.
But I'm so over him, he's punted and out.
Harmony is important in the team and he's a fully charged over the top, pain.
So he's out.

I'm with you.
Pendlebury is even better as he carries even more now.

Either you are very positive about us shooting right up the ladder in 2018 or you are doing the 2010 team, a Collingwood great, best I have seen, a big disservice. Discarding too many flag players for potential improvements at this point. Maynard, De Goey and Moore are the ????

you can have him.
Too painful too many bounces. Too much everything.

Collingwood often crabbed along the boundary in 2010, but we weren't always so predictable: the dash of H that year was an unpredictable and unsettling element for opposition teams, and it is a fond memory for me.

Perhaps.
Fair points.
But i like Johnson but to me a very nice player but that was his level.

You are probably right.
If I'd put Obrien in I'd have to take Maxwell out. And I'd prefer him overall.

I actually think we semi lucked 2010. A good side but it sort of all came together that year.
The stars aligned. We had quite a few basic types in the side, who all did the business.
Macaffer, Toovey, Wellingham, Blair, Dawes. Even Maxwell was just a player (had the organisation down back) and a darn good leader (you get crowned that with a flag. Had we lost to saints game 1 his stock would not quite be the same.)

But no Jolly no flag, in many ways Jolly and Ball made the difference. Without them and particularly Jolly, that era would have been consigned to the dust bin of history.
But we completed the job in the replay week.

I think do I call the 2010 player Obrien in that reference or Lumumba if referring to 2010 only.

He did have dash, real dash. One bounce Harry I'd call him, sometimes taking the one bounce too many.
But earned his stripes that season.

I don't remember that H got caught much, but it must be conceded that he sometimes ran himself into trouble, forcing him to dispose of the ball in a less than elegant manner. But overall I'd say that the rewards of his playing style that year vastly outweighed the costs.
