last year we finally got over Sydney, Nth. Melbourne and Geelong. All 3 sides had given us hell for a number of years.

There are still three teams that are laughing at us and what better way to shut them up would be to have wins over them in 2010.

We haven't beaten St.Kilda since 2001
We haven't beaten Adelaide since 2004 :(
We haven't beaten the Hawks since 2005

Nothing will give me greater pleasure than sticking it to these three this season, particularly the Saints and the Hawks.

Bring on the monkeys

Hell St Kilda for nearly 10 years we used to have them beaten by 20 goals a game sometimes. I even remember Mark Maclure kicking a back one day when St kilda only kicked like 2 goals in the game. It was like 30 goals to 2 back in 1985.

We used to have St Kilda on it's knees.

Know a lot of Stkilda supporters, and most of my life they have been destroying us. For me this is the the one. Would love a win against the Saints this year, and I'm sure the boys do as well.

More a case of beating teams we are clearly better than. Fancy being beaten by Essendon twice last year, the Swans and Freo? This is what I want, consistency of form. If the Saints beat us this year because they are a better team so be it, but being beat by sides that barely win more then they lose is unacceptable from now on.

100% on the money 30yr.

And it only took 1 paragraph. :D

We can all agree on this but we still need to beat the better teams as well to show true progress and getting those monkeys off our back is an important part of team development.

I would love to beat adelaide this year, last year we knew we could match it with geelong, st kilda and the doggies but we had trouble with the crows because they are so disciplined and well drilled and didn't give us the chance to play our game.

To beat them it will start and finish in the coaches box.

Yep no argument. I think we are no questions better than 8 teams, Rich, Freo, Melb, WC, Port, Swans, Nth, Essendon and none of these teams should beat us this year. Period. So that is 12 wins.

I think we are equal of Brisbane, maybe Bulldogs (on recent history but they are due), and maybe Hawthorn depending on whether they recapture 08 form so lets say we break even on this lot, thats 4 games say we win 2 lose 2, thats 14 wins,

and a notch below Adel, Collingwood, Stkilda and Geelong. Thats 6 games say we snag 2, thats 16 wins.

There is no reason we cant do that, provided we dont get beaten by any team that is clearly not as good as us. Now each year there is a big improver, so perhaps a team or 2 has a blinder and is much better than last year and we drop 2 of the games against teams we think we should be better than.

That is still 14 wins. I would take that, and minimum 2 finals wins this season. :thumbsu:

I don't rate colonwood quiet so highly, we beat them 4 games in a row prior to the last game we played but I agree with what you are saying. Once we stop dropping those games we are expected to win, we will start closing the gap between us and the elite teams. Lets hope the Blues cook up something really special this year and it smells reeeal sweet !

Hawthorn will be tough, no question about that. As will Adelaide. I expect both of these teams to figure quite prominantly in September. I do expect the Saints to go deep into September, however, there are are four reasons why I think we can roll the Saints this year, based on lasts years game.

1. Losing Fev won't have that much of an impact, given that he never really kicked a bag vs the Saints.
2. We coughed up the 1st 5 goals against them, which really hurt.
3. Waite will be back (hopefully)
4. Losing Judd to the broken nose in the 3rd quarter really halted our momentum.

I watched this game last night coincidentally.

We conceeded three or four goals in the time he was off - he returned to the field and we had the next three or so shots, and scored the next goal.

The shift in momentum was tangible. If Judd didn't return to the field, it would be more than fair to say we could've lost that game by 10 goals.

Judd's suspension early in the season will leave nowhere to hide for our young midfield, who will be called upon to stem the tide, to stand up, and to shut games out. In this sense, it may well be a blessing in disguise.

This will be an essential step on the way to where we want to be going. A premiership side will be 6-8 top mids deep not simply one champ carrying the rest.

When we learn to control games without Judd we can win a flag.

Yes.
I really think we will win our first 3 games without Judd. Cant Fu*kin wait!
I think Brisbane at the Gabba is the big problem.

Forget Fev and Staker (:D), the fact is that the last few times we played there we have run out of legs. Sometimes we have kept our nose in front, other times they have caught us. With Murphy being underdone, McLean likely to struggle for the full 4 Q's and Waite in the same boat......hell maybe even throw Warnock and Henderson in there with interrupted pre-seasons, and they might just overrun us again.

If we can win 2 of the first 3 then we SHOULD have a good year but if we only get one of those wins and then go into a harder 3-4 week period we could be on 3-4 wins only halfway through the year. 5 from 11 is the minimum IMO.

As for the OP, Hoops and Fev could have narrowed that list down to just the Crows last year with straight kicks.

This year won't be it IMO, but it won't be long.
