2012 AFC Board player sponsors.

I didn't know where to place this thread exactly. Will we have an opportunity to sponsor a player for the upcoming season?

We all select a player from the senior list and rookie list and have a responsibility to track their progress and provide information on how well they played or training form. No money involved, just like a buddy draft. 48 Crows players in total and each member, depending on number of participants, can select a player(s) depending on their draft selection allocated to them.

As seen as we haven’t gathered much interest thus far, each member that expresses interest can select two players. First come, first served basis.

I thought we had something like this a couple seasons back. I thought it is something that would be a mainstay on this board with so many great posters we have here.

off topic a litttle, but James Craig is an interesting choice. I hope to see what he has to offer. I would love to select a lesser known player or a rookie. I think i would get much enjoyment from tracking their progress compared to one of our stars.

I agree. Port have a similar thing and call it the 'Buddy' draft. The player they choose becomes their offical 2012 player buddy!

I think they use a randomised draft order!

i like the random draft order. As previously stated i am happy to take a lesser known player.

Perhaps Kristof, BACCS or a mod could set this up and finalise a draft order

I do suggest though that those who do attend SANFL regularly are perhaps in a good spot to pick up players that spend most their games there.

Yeah i was not thinking along the lines of what you see around other boards which involve money. Simply it is taking a player you have interest in for a year, and track their progress throughout the year and provide information on that player.

The player that you choose is like a shiny new toy, which you have responsibility to look after and pump up how good it is to your friends.

Put this on the main board. Interest will rocket.

I also think perhaps providing examples of what you think people would do as a 'sponsor' (i'd be inclined to call it a 'Player Observer/Reporter').

I used to never come to the backyard til the mods starting getting bored and moving great threads here. I don't think many ppl who priortise their time to footy only discussions come to the backyard. Those are the ones you'll want to target with this initiative IMO.

You pay the club to officially sponsor a player.

There should be info on the afc website. Very costly for most clubs.

It's about people following and providing updates on specific players.

Mrs Joan Hall is obviously an individual though.

I think I've seen other club boards on bigfooty have sponsored players...

The 'Young Family' could also not be a corporate body. Very interested to see how it works. I wondered what it all was about when i see companies sponsor SANFL players. How does it all work?
