Three of our four picks at the 2012 National Draft suffered various injuries throughout their first season at the club. There's no coincidence then that Ben Kennedy who was the only relatively injury free draftee played the most games, that being 12. But by the end of the season our eyes were completely turned to the steal of the century, a bloke who should become a top 3 Ruck in the comp in the next few years. In the space of 7 games Brodie Grundy became our number 1 Ruckman and goes into season 2014 as possibly one of our most important players. Both Tim Broomhead and Jackson Ramsay spent chunks of 2013 on the sidelines but despite this they showed signs of talent whilst playing in the VFL.
So what are our expectations for these four in 2014? Only Grundy will start in the best 22 with the fortunes of the others part dependant on injuries to players in the senior side. In terms of games I expect Grundy to play upwards of 15 as he will obviously need the odd rest. Broomy and Kennedy I expect to play between 5 and 10 games whilst I also expect Ramsay to debut. Let's hope that 2014 is a strong year for these four who look to have long careers ahead at the Pies.
