YES!!!!:D

Ferrer appeared to have entered career decline since the French Open final, playing some ordinary tennis which doesn't reflect his ranking. Whilst he still may not be at peak level, a win against an excuse-less Nadal is delicious! Ferrer has a had a much better looking month. Don't know how he will fare against Djokovic  but you can do it Ferru!

You could say "it's only Paris after all, WTF on the mind". But I'll take it.

Leaves the door ajar now for Djokovic to finish YE1. I think Nadal has to win 1 or 2 RR matches next week (and Djokovic win basically everything including Davis Cup, which can be used).

Um, Ferrer is probably playing the best tennis of his life

Number 3 in the world, first Grand Slam Final, 2 titles, semi at the Aus, Final at Miami - apart from the US Open series not that bad a year overall. Considering he's been around forever - he's still playing relatively great tennis compared to most of his career I reckon

I cant really agree with that. Other than a few off months in late 08/early 09, his June-September form was arguably his worst since he cracked the top 10 several years back. He was only saved a little by having protected slam draws at Wimbledon/US, not having to play dangerous players in early rounds. He was rarely beating mediocre players in straight sets, which is out of sorts for him, plus losing in early rounds far more frequently.

I'm a big Ferrer fan, so I can tell when he is off his game. After the 2013 FO final, it appeared that he was entering some sort of career decline. He has probably already peaked. 2013 as a whole was a pretty sensational year for him, but a fair chunk of the year featured his worst form in years. Given Ferrer is the wrong side of 30yo, when you see that sudden drop in form over a couple months (like with Federer), you fear they will never do any real damage again. Luckily for Ferrer, he played himself into some decent form in October, getting another masters final and securing Year end no.3. Federer seems to be back to normal now as well.

Hmm. I dont know if Fed is 'back to normal'. Next year will be interesting. To me, I think Federer is done. Some of his errors recently have been really bad. Current Fed playing well is still good. But current Fed playing badly is really bad. Take the crosscourt approach to Nadal's forehand in the WTF...crazy stuff. That whole game he was shanking them everywhere, not playing like someone ranked 100 yet alone 7. Federer has been one of the greatest athletes of all time, easily my favourite, but every dog has his day.

I think Ferrer still has what it takes to stay around the Top 5. He plays his game on percentages, and in the long run of a season this type of game breeds consistency. He knows his body well, and his limitations, and has hunger and a heart that most envy.

I meant back to normal as in top 10 in the world. I don't expect him to win a GS ever again, he would struggle to beat the likes of DelPo and Ferrer nowadays, and cant see him beating Nadal or Djokovic ever again.
