Hogan is McCartin but has had injuries. Why get two identical style players?
Hogans much better, and more suited to CHF with his big tank and great field kicking IMO, while McCartins best suited to lead out of the goal square. As much as it would pain me to see it at Melbourne, that would be a fantastic combo.

Bound for glory did a phantom last night I think and they had us getting the following

Vickers-Willis
McDonald
Cunico
Webb
Keitel

Not bad, however no blistering pace there. I would like to see us get one of the kids that has real pace. That's why I hope Menadue is still there for us but another Blaine Boakhorst is worth a look and also another one who takes the game on is Gore from SA.

Yeh I followed that and is alot of fun and tests who you would take when our picks come around.
I would love those 5 to be honest although I though Cunico was taken too high.

Paige later tweeted that the dogs are into Webb in the 20's. That makes me a little nervous I have to say.

Im getting the Howard felling about Webb (not the player himself just the selection strategy). Very very few rate him in the 20's.
He may well fall in the early 30's..... but just because he may not be there with our third pick doesnt mean we should take him higher than we rate him.
Put simply if there is a player we rate higher at 26/27 surely we just dont jump cause we hear another club is into Webb before our third pick.
Thats just life - not going to get everyone you want.

But going back to the phantom they did - replace Cunico with some speed and Id be very very happy.

If we want pace it will be all gone in the first round. Still at the stage where we need to get the best footballers available IMO. We can still get some long term pieces if a guy like Neal-Bullen were to fall to us for example.

i'm tending to agree with you here scary. the blistering pace / ball use probably won't be around at our picks - every club wants this sort fo player.

our list is still way too shallow in most areas. i reckon we stick to the drafting strategy of recent years - draft tall utilities*, unless there is an absolute standout. guys like maynard, EVW, jackson nelson, dan howe. three of this type in the second round, a key position prospect and caleb daniel in the third for mine.

*must be able to use the football and make sound decisions

Not all the pace will be gone. Boekhorst should be there for us at 26 or 27 if we rated him that high and maybe at 39 although unlikely. Menadue could be there too. I reckon the light frame will put some off. They had Lamb going at 28 and I reckon he'll go earlier and might then release Menadue to us. Gore is not lightening, but quick enough and he takes the game on and seems a line breaker, he'll be there for us I reckon.

Well....that draft does not make a lot of sense to me. 2 KP players and no real pace. We should get someone in with some speed. We have lost Griffen, Cooney and Tutt.....possibly our 3 quickest mids. No good getting a quick guy with limited skills agree......but there are some better options I think than Webb and Cunico IMO. I would only take one KP player either of those 2 would be ok. Vickers-Willis I'm more than happy with.

Who do you think would be a better option?

I hope like hell that one of D. McKenzie or Menadue are there

Menadue is a pipe dream IMO. If he doesn't go top 20 I'll be on the floor. I don't care if he weighs 50kgs a kid with his Class and pace doesn't last.

But if he's there of course you take him.

We won't be taking gore unfortunately.

Well I think Boekhorst and Gore are better options. I'm happy to get Webb but only if we get another player with genuine pace and line braking ability. Cunico and Webb are good users but they don't seem to be the types to break the lines. We really need a player or 2 on our list soon who can do that. I actually rate Caleb Daniel higher than both of them also.

He'll go before Marchbank Lamb and Maynard.

Yeah tend to agree....he's too good, but I live in hope. In the BFG phantom they have Essendon taking him. So they have a choice at that stage to take Lamb and I just reckon they won't pass on him. They have Essendon getting Langford with an earlier pick so he's kinda lumped in the same category as Lamb. I reckon Langford will end up at the Pies at Pick 5 and the Bombers will go Lamb as a result. the skinny kid could slip.

How come?
He's just not on our board anymore is my understanding. Not sure why. :(

Webb is a Caulfield grammar boy that only played a handful of tac cup games. Prudden, cordy, Macrae, hrovat. Dal likes these kids that hide in the private school systems.

have we been rumored with Boekhorst or Daniel though? I don't think I've heard anyone actually connect us with Cunico

I think Quayle has her phantom draft come out tomorrow and she is normally dead on the money

he probably will, Carlton will probably be the team that picks him to :(

That seems a real shame. Good build, nice skills and quick enough. Oh well. I like Webb, love the silky left foot but we must find some pace too.

Nah not been linked to most of the players I really like. Pies are into Boekhorst and no one is into Daniel and yet he's probably a top 10 player based on his ability. I have not heard us linked to Cunico until that phantom. Before that Wigg was on the radar...similar types.

Don't think he's slow though. Agree we need some genuine pace but we definitely still have room for a versatile big bodied mid who 'cracks in' has lovely skills, great overhead and can probably play anywhere on the ground

you know that in the past few drafts, not every team goes best available
so I wouldn't be surprised at all if a few players fall out of the second round
JMac said earlier in the year when I was eavesdropping, they have a very good idea of who the other teams want
and therefore can put more time into the players they know will be around their picks

I hope Menadue pulls the same move Elliot Kavanagh did
