Keitel might be my favourite player of this draft, for those who know can anybody tell me anything about Stewart from WA and Switzoski from Metro, both had good effieciency and marking ability, and the S.A skipper as well Johansen.
Johansen is pretty much like Honeychurch, best ask Chris in the Phantom draft
knows the SA crop real well; Keitel has some great athleticism, was supposed to be real good at the javelin and when I've seen him
seems to have plenty of tricks, the phantom drafters will argue how we need more of a power forward, but come on; he is a talent :P

KM has Keitel at 191 but more current measurements suggest he's around 194cm at the moment. Contested marks are I think a better indicator than a few cm extra in height so thats why some are saying he's getting closer to the top 10 at the moment around Darcy Moore's range

Brayshaw/Maynard remind me an awful lot like one another, Brayshaw just accumulates it more; both use the ball pretty averagely
but I think they could play a Nick Vlaustin type role at the next level

They also kind of look alike, which doesn't help.

I thought Brayshaw was supposed to be a good or solid kick, just not a lethal one.

I'd take him just for the opportunity to get someone we can nickname "The Wolf", in reference to the famous Harvey Keitel character.

If Cordy's as good as people say he is our defence looks fine for the future.

Wood------Roughead
Higgins-------Talia--------Cordy

JJ too.

Just need a back pocket, a Nick Smith or Lee Spurr type. Good thing is these guys don't usually go high in the draft. Anyone like that in this years draft?
Picken still has plenty left as well.

I like the sound of Tyler Keitel. Knightmare has him as a mix between Jarryd Roughead and Taylor Walker. If he is like either of those 2, he is exactly what we need.

I would love to know more about his personality, as in would he handle the move to Melbourne or is he one of the homesick types.... Certainly one to keep an eye on, and based on need does sound a good option.

Our first pick in this draft must be for a high quality KPF. Not having one for so long is killing us. Imagine if we had Taylor Walker in our side.

I feel as though out of the 5 (Durdin, Wright, Goddard, McCartin and now Keitel) Keitel might be the most appropriate out of the 5. Hes added around 3 - 4cm this year as well as 7 - 8 kgs and is more the stay at home forward than most of the others. He probably is the safest pick out of the 5 as...
Wright spends a lot of time in the ruck and maybe become a better ruckman than forward
Goddard and Durdin are the utility types and both haven't dominated a game this year unlike Keitel.
McCartin's injury issue's and in particular his Diabetes is a cause for concern.

I would have Keitel, slightly in front of McCartin at this stage as my two prefered first rounders at this stage. Love to snag a priority to pick and instead I would get Keitel and Wright, and potenitally move on Minson for a good outside mid but thats just me.

Keitel is both good at ground level and good in the air, I actually rated him over McCarthy last year and it seems as if hes taken his game up a level since then

I think if we were to somehow get him though, there would need to be some patience because he might be athletically powerful; his frame would be a couple of years off playing AFL

Not having a crack at you but I keep seeing these comments about McCartin's diabetes, maybe you and others are experts in diabetes in elite athletes. But if not, perhaps people could read up on diabetes and elite athletes and educate themselves on the subject. Dale Weightman and Nathan Bassett spring to mind as successful diabetic footy players.

Based on above and having a family member who is diabetic and who successfully played high level sport, I would be surprised if educated recruiters consider diabetes to be much of a factor, in fact the strict dietary regime of a diabetic actually is very similar to that of an elite athlete.

Like the sound of Keitel, anyone know where I could find some footage of him? Very promising how much he's grown this year, another couple of cms, while not essential, would be nice.

Please trade our first pick for GCs first rounders and take Keitel and Duggan, perfect result.

It's just another consideration that the football club has to take into account, and I doubt our club doesn't have the facilities and specialists that other clubs can afford to maximise his output as a footballer.

Do GC need any players that would be there at pick 4/5 really? Could get even worse and could be pick 3

in which case, I'd be asking for their two picks and something extra...

their board seems to have their heart set on Lachie Weller but their midfield depth is pretty solid, personally I'd be taking Jake Lever but could be a possibility he gets to their first pick anyway o_O

My bigger concern for McCartin is his height. He's listed as only 193cm which is pretty short for a modern day key forward, meaning he might struggle that little bit more in the AFL. Hopefully he still has some growth left in him and has grown by a few centimetres by the time the draft camp comes along.

193cm is tall enough if he can play , a lot of good key position players at that height

Brendan Fevola 191cm
Matthew Pavlich 192cm
Nick Riewoldt 193cm
Taylor Walker 194cm

Biggest myth in football is that you have to be 195cm+ to be a great KPF, there is 4 really good ones right there.

The latter 3 have freak athleticism, and Fevola is about as good as you can get for a 191-194cm Key-Forward without freak athleticism.

We shouldn't exclusively look to recruit Key-Forwards who are 195cm or taller, but height like that can be a big advantage & it makes it a lot harder for 191-194cm defenders to match up on the forward.

Oh God. Given people are losing the plot over Stringer one and a half years in I just can't wait to see what people say when we take a KPF who take years to develop.

'Why did we take the next Tyrone Vickery over Angus Brayshaw!!!111!!'.

New eyecatchers video is up
http://www.afl.com.au/video

This upcoming draft is looking very good for depth so we should strive hard to upgrade some picks with some canny trading. The impediment is that there are so many players on our list loosing trade value because of ordinary form that other clubs might not show much interest.

I have the same concerns, I like how there are quite a number of players in this draft noted for their good kicking as a major strength
the one kicking it to Capiron in the video in the back pocket that put him under pressure came from Goddard as well and not sure if that was marked as a clanger or not but it didn't impress me at all
Keitel reminds me a bit like Ben Reid when he is played up forward, hoping our clubs recruiters are keeping an open mind about who to draft ..

Note "modern key forward". With the exception of Walker, those are previous generation players. Even so, Pavlich and Riewoldt aren't your stay at home power forwards. They do their best work through their work rate and their ability to push up the ground.

Never seen McCartin play have you ? If so what role does he
Play ?

I've seen a bit but not as much as many others on bigfooty, and mostly from last year. He's the most natural forward of the bunch, strong body, can dominate with his strength, and a great mark. He's the closest to being a true power forward compared to the others in the draft. His height isn't an issue for him right now, but it might be in the AFL where the defenders are bigger and stronger. He'd still be my number one pick this year, though Wright and Duggan are close. Don't rate him as high as Boyd from last year though.
