Macpherson has been really good in the games he has played thus far this year. Hasn't played in the last few weeks though...
We are going to be a seriously strange team with a bunch of huge beasts (Bonts, Macrae, Stringer, Koby, Griff) surrounded by short people (Hrovat, Honey, Tutt, JJ, Macpherson, etc)

Think Pickett is too small, as the way goes now you need players who can rotate through the middle then into the forward line and don't think he will be good enough, this is coming from someone who has seen very minimal footage of him.

Duggan for me though.

About Foster
For some players, the expectation of being a potential father-son selection increases unnecessary external pressure, which is magnified when overlooked.

That was the case for Calder Cannons key forward, Jayden Foster who is the son of Western Bulldogs legend, Peter. When Foster made a return in the finals for the Cannons, kicking four goals hype generated talk that the Bulldogs may have given him the opportunity, however limited appearances and just four games of the year due to a lengthy injury lay-off due to a foot issue.

However, as is the trend, Foster’s surge to prominence has been swift, kicking 20 goals off seven TAC Cup appearances including a bag of five against Gippsland a fortnight ago. Since putting on four kilograms, Foster’s contested marking and reliable set-shot for goal have been talking points, but so has his ability to crash packs and move well higher afield that could see this son of a gun follow in his father’s footsteps in November.

With the TAC Cup allowing for three 19-year-old players each year to be re-listed for each of the 12 metropolitan and country-based sides, they also have the opportunity to become the 23rd man at VFL level, however at only at a maximum of three games.

Foster in particular will get the opportunity to taste what could be ahead, by pulling on the Footscray jumper before the year is out. Calder’s pacey wingman Aaron Christensen has impressed for Williamstown and has recently made the move to becoming a signed player for the Seagulls, the same pathway Langdon went with the Zebras. Keep an eye out for some of these 19-year-olds who may well be the next Tom Langdon.

About the Bushranger boys Howe and Drummond

Dan Howe from the Murray Bushrangers wouldn’t have made a ripple in any body of water when his name wasn’t called out in last year’s draft, despite AFL Draft insiders believing he was a strong chance to be rookie-drafted. Howe, who resides in country town Rennie, is a super-versatile tall who at 191 cm and 84 kg has become a vital cog in Vic Country’s defence as a damaging rebounding defender since making the move to the backline from half forward this year. In each of Howe’s six TAC Cup games to date, he has featured in Murray’s best on each occasion, which is more than what he could account for in 2013. Currently averaging 21 disposals, Howe is another beneficiary from the TAC Cup’s 19-year-old rule, just like his teammate, Nathan Drummond.

A prodigious talent, Drummond’s draft year was cruelled by a series of injuries that meant he could only play a total of three TAC Cup games. By his own admission, Drummond really distanced himself form the club during that period and he struggled to cope with the realisation that it wasn’t going to be his year.

Still, Drummond was regarded a favorable chance to be rookie-listed by a club and is repaying the faith the Bushranges instilled in him, by inviting him back as a top-age player. Like other 19 year olds, Drummond is having a career-best year that has so far included a Vic Country jumper and labeled as the most exciting utility play in the competition. Drummond has played almost every position this season, and in particular for Vic Country he’s played forward, back, on a wing and through the midfield, which has given recruiters a taste of perhaps what the 181 cm, 85 kg endurance king, who is averaging 28 disposals and seven marks a game can offer at the next level.

I think if Drummond could tidy up his kicking he should get picked up this year

disappointed to hear that GWS have first dibs on a player from the Murray Bushrangers called Nick Coughlan whose an athletic Key Forward thats kicked a number of bags through out the year and has a good size already for a key forward

on Langdon, I've liked the look of his younger brother and saw that eyecatchers mentioned him
has a touch of class about him as well

going to be excited to see Foster play for Footscray, hopefully its down at the Whitten Oval

19 year olds to look out for this year:

Nathan Drummond (181cm 85kg, Murray Bushrangers)
Dan Howe (191cm 84kg, Murray Bushrangers)
Taylor Grace (183cm, 76kg, Sandringham Dragons)
Aaron Christensen (190cm, 76kg, Calder Cannons/Coburg VFL)
Aaron Christensen (174cm, 66kg, Geelong Falcons)

Edit: some of these weights are from last year so players may have bulked up since.

one that I like that hasn't been really talked about is Alex Spencer; think he plays for the Dragons..

Alex Spencer that was eligible last year? Is he playing TAC as an overager this year? I really liked him last year. Was surprised he wasn't picked up.

I was a little surprised as well; yeah that is the one
he is playing for Sandy still as a 19 year old

think he looks far better up forward to be honest; good size and think he is a fair kick
think he was at least as good as McStay last year who was picked up last year by Brisbane
Brisbane got so many early picks, I think they look better then the ones that left to be honest!

Dan Howe's specky is near the end

First two rounds of Chris25's Phantom Draft

Dan Howe's specky is near the end

ouch, all my favourites going before our second round pick
personally I prefer Nick Coughlan over McKenzie; but I also thought Coughlan was a bit taller
Viojo-Rainbow to Melbourne is </3

just wondering who that leaves for the fourth round & beyond since we'll likely have to take Cordy there

one of Dan Howe, Nathan Drummond or Taylor Grace 4th round would suite me. Either that or someone slides like Honey did...

if those were our first two picks, couldn't be too disappointed I suppose; what with the type of players that come after
Connor Blakely has loads of admirers as an inside/outside type with clean skills, could see us going for someone like Maynard though; wins his own ball and versatile but kicking skills need loads of work o_O

might not even go into the fourth round, may take a pick into the PSD then grab our rookies

mckenzie also played a lot of basketball and I wonder how closely we've been watching him with Macpherson playing there at Northern Knights as well

a couple of the mock drafters seem to think he'll get late second round, early third

doesn't kick too many bags but you're right; does seem to have a presence about him
was hoping he'd slide into the third/fourth, or we get another pick somehow to get a player like McKenzie late and Foster come rookie draft :D

Just continuing this (Because I heard something today)

The Dogs are one of 6 clubs that are watching McKenzie at the moment*. Nothing beyond watching, I think, at this stage. I spoke to some people that do know him, and he isn't considered a sure thing to be drafted by a few. Apparently he has a tendency to go missing in games, and struggles with big bodied opponents. Just what I gathered today.

Source: Overheard a conversation he was having. He listed the 6 teams; the Dogs included.

yeah see, I don't rate him really as high as the second round but since we'd likely miss out because we'd have to take Cordy in the second round
it isn't so bad, especially in the likely event that a lot of the other players that would suit us are off the table

Duggan would fit very nicely into the side in my opinion; kicking skills and class from the back half is something we lack, especially if Higgins has injury issues or leaves (hopefully not) also having Duggan in the back half might allow Higgins to push up the field a little and watching the Collingwood vs AIS game; think that the he took ALL of the kick outs o_O and I didn't see him turn it over as far as I remember

McKenzie also just started playing AFL again and I'm not sure about struggling against bigger bodies because he is a big unit himself, but I know he can disappear during games....but so can McCartin ..in fact, I'm not sure I've seen McCartin ever string more then 3-4 games together; bit of a worry
but I've watched games where McCartin has been a ghost out there, same with Goddard; wouldn't know they were out there except for the fact they're all massive kids

interesting to hear he (McKenzie) is on their radar though; Nick Coughlan is the other forward that interests me
second round might be a bit high but Twoomey thinks he could go in the third round or beyond because GWS would need to make a choice out of Liam Griffiths and Coughlan

Can anyone tell me if McCartin has good pace? I only have seen limited footage.

Sorry if this has been asked before, I couldn't find it.

Pace?

probably as fast as what Jonathan Brown is
not something he is known for though to be honest
wouldn't go as far to say its a weakness though

Well if that is the case that's probably a concern.
