3rd in Monza too.Mika Salo filled in at Ferrari when Michael Schumacher broke his leg. Finished 2nd in Germany I think.
Some believe the proximity to the chasing Williams in Austria, who even monopolised the front row of the grid, is because Mercedes de-tuned its performance in the wake of the reliability problems in Canada.
Team chairman Niki Lauda, however, said the de-tuning accounted only for "two tenths per lap" in Austria.
"I note with surprise that the lead we had in Montreal has shrunk virtually to nil," the great Austrian is quoted by Auto Motor und Sport.
"Almost the whole race, Williams had the same speed as us -- we beat them only by better tactics and tyre wear. So now the alarm bells must ring now."
There was a 9th, but he never actually qualified for a race.Bolded Finns have podium finishes:
- Leo Kinnunen
- Keke Rosberg
- JJ Lehto
- Mika Hakkinen
- Mika Salo
- Kimi Raikkonen
- Nico Rosberg*
- Heikki Kovalainen
- Valtteri Bottas
They can lose two tenths per lap and still get 1-2's. Jesus christ.Lauda admits that Mercedes "detuned" their engine for Austria...

Jenson Button heads into his 15th British Grand Prix not knowing if it may be his last at Silverstone and if he will get the chance beyond this year to end his horrible run in front of home fans.
Button is out of contract at the end of this year, and while McLaren have been publicly effusive in their praise of the 34-year-old, that has not stopped the team making forays into the driver market.
Fernando Alonso, who left the team in acrimonious circumstances at the end of 2007 and has become disillusioned with life at Ferrari, seems the most likely candidate, although it remains to be seen whether the Spaniard can be persuaded to join for the first year of Honda engines in 2015.
Telegraph Sport understands the team have also opened very tentative dialogue with Lewis Hamilton, in case the psychological scars of this year’s title fight at Mercedes become too great. The only circumstances in which Hamilton would leave Mercedes are if he lost out to Nico Rosberg for the drivers’ championship.
Four-time champion Sebastian Vettel, who is happy at Red Bull but could become frustrated with the car’s unreliable and underperforming Renault engine, is also a more remote possibility.
It is not thought the manner of their parting of ways after the “Spygate” affair in 2007 would be any obstacle to Alonso’s return. The Spaniard even said after a strong drive to fifth in Austria that he would prefer more trophies than “respect” for doing a good job with an underperforming car.
Asked about the future of his drivers this weekend, Ron Dennis did not exactly provide a ringing endorsement for his current pairing: “We are not looking to finalise our driver line-up now.”

News is going around that McLaren are looking for a new driver for 2015. I couldn't see Hamilton or Vettel leaving their current teams for next season.
Smedley was his engineer for years. That graphic they had "Congratulations RB owner whatshisname, thank you Bernie" was pretty lame. Also, What the relationship Smedley and Massa have? Obviously it's close enough for Smedley to go to Williams. How did that develop?
I think they're actually really great mates. So the sounding annoyed might just be the way they work together. I've heard stories of them spending lots of time together away from the track with their families together.I knew that. It's just Smedley sounded like he was annoyed with Massa, over the radio communications we hear. It's not like they've won multiple titles or anything together, or that Massa is that good. With Massa leaving, I would've thought he might like a new partnership with a differnet driver.
