OK folks. We have a thread for discussion on the draft over there>>>>>>

Now that we have a Draft Order, how about as many forumites as possible have a crack at a Phantom.

Self appointed expert or just interested fan, it doesn't matter...don't be shy to contribute. Whether you want to do a Top 10, or 20, or 30, or 70...whatever you're comfortable with.

Here goes: My parametres for this phantom draft is not where i want players to go but where i actually think they'll go as if i was picking for each Club at their Pick.

1. ESS Hugh McCluggage
2. GWS Andrew McGrath
3. GC Jack Bowes (bid by Bris)

No one I would really say was extremely early or late. Great work TW

I can tell you that he won't make it to our second.

He probably won't. But as i was going down the order and picking for each Club, that is the way it fell.

I'm not a huge fan of Florent, and didn't engineer it so he would fall to us. It's just the way the Phantom fell.

C'mon Harks, i thought you'd have had a go yourself by now. Interested to see others thoughts and efforts.

English has been talked up to be taken by Fremantle. Hence why they were happy to trade from 3>7. He will still be available

1. ESS McCluggage - they say there's no clear no.1 in this draft but IMO there is & it's Hugh.
2. GWS McGrath - GWS have been sending him love letters all year.
3. BL Ainsworth - they have already photoshopped him into the team photo. They won't bid on Bowes when they're so keen on Ainsworth.
4. GC Brodie - wanted experienced players in exchange for JOM & meatball, instead they'll have to settle for an AFL ready Brodie.
6. GC Bowes - bid by Carlton. He's a gun so they've done well to avoid a bid till 5.
5. CAR Taranto - I think we'll pick up a mid who's a bit of a project, then get the ready made mid next year at the end of the rebuild so it could be Scrimshaw instead.
7. FRE Petrevski-Seton - local boy who adds some much needed attacking flair.
8. GC Scrimshaw - they'll be super confident about Brodie & Bowes, now it's time to take a bit of a risk on a project who could become the best mid of this draft.
15, 37. GWS Setterfield & Perryman - bid by Sydney. Earlier teams had their preferred player available or just didn't want to annoy GWS. Sydney are more than happy to annoy GWS.
9. SYD Logue - key defender who tested very well at the combine, probably who they had in mind when trading up the order.
10. GC Florent - gives them an outside mid to with their haul of midfielders.

9. GC Florent - mids, mids, more mids. Bit of a reach for Florent but he balances out their draft nicely.
10.GWS Setterfield - bid by Sydney. GCs draft dominance has saved GWS from any earlier bids.
GC don't have pick 3...

I can't be bothered going past the top 15.

I'd be truly shocked if he didn't pick a mid, especially after the Gibbs debacle.

I think SOS will use Gibbs to get back another early pick or two next year.

I think it'll be mids first 2 picks at least

... as if i was picking for each Club at their Pick.

...
25. StK Jordan Gallucci
26. GEE Kobe Mutch (not matched by GWS)
27. CAR Oliver Florent
28. GWS Harrison Macreadie (bid by WB)
29. WB Brennan Cox
30. RICH Josh Battle

If Battle is there at our second pick, I think we will take him. Don't think Florent will be there either.

I started to TW but then lost focus. :)
I will give it a shot though soon. Good thread. :thumbsu:

I really like Florent but would love to know a little more about him, as an individual.
A quality young man who, a day after speaking beautifully at his father's funeral (and being a pallbearer), was back at training the next day with the Dragons and then played some of his best footy to help them win the flag.

If we don't pick him up, I hope he stays in Melbourne to be with his family.

1 ESS - McCluggage - At this point, he seems to be the standout first choice. Goal kicking mid that is extremely well balanced, very good by hand and foot, on both sides of his body. Cotchin like. Considerations - McGrath & Scrimshaw

2 GWS - McGrath - Very athletic and powerful. Can fumble below his knees at times, but more due to hitting the ball at speed. Once he gathers the ball, he has super quick hands. Good kick over longer distances, when kicking through the ball. Considerations Ainsworth Brodie SPS

3 BL - Ainsworth - Explosive off a lead with a powerful leap. Has strong hands in the air and ground level. Zorko like. Any perceived kicking issues will be refined as his technique is solid. Considerations Bowes bid, Brodie, SPS, Taranto, Scrimshaw

4 GC - Scrimshaw - Exciting prospect, seems comfortable off HB, but also forward, believe he will develop into a ball winning mid. Botempelli/Birchall type, without the composure as yet, but with more speed. Needs to improve his tank, which he should. Considerations Brodie, Taranto, SPS

5 CAR - Taranto - Well balanced, dangerous up forward, as well as showing his capabilities as an inside/outside mid. Solid tackle numbers with a very good tank. Can kick the occasional floater due to his ball drop. Considerations Setterfield bid, Brodie, SPS

6 GC - SPS - Exciting mover, skilled on both sides of the body, Seems to generally to be in 2nd gear, but when he accelerates shows very good speed. Considerations Brodie, Logue

7 FRE - English - Think he is the perfect prospect given what the Dockers have and don't have. Very mobile and agile, with midfielder like foot skills, who could still be growing? May get some games early as a forward. Considerations Logue, Brodie, Setterfield bid

8 GC - Brodie - Don't think I have seen him fumble when accepting a ruckman's tap, even under pressure. High work rate, two way runner. Would like to see him hit more targets by foot, but I am sure this will be sorted once in the system. Considerations Berry, Bowes, Logue

9 GWS - Setterfield - I believe this is where Setterfield will attract a bid, from SYD(CAR being the 2nd most possible option) and will be matched by GWS. Well balanced mid, who plays inside/outside, with good hand speed.

10 SYD - Logue - Aggressive KPD, that may spend some time through the middle if he develops accordingly. Can play on smalls/talls. Considerations, Perryman bid, Berry

11 GC - Bowes - Won't fall any further than this pick. Does everything well without being elite at any one thing. Considerations nil, unless a huge slider from above

12 GWS - Perryman - GWS match North's bid. Is extremely fluent on both sides of his body, can play inside/outside mid as well as forward or back. Nice level of aggression. Has huge upside

13 NOR - Berry - Athletic and powerful, can play multiple positions, more likely off HB, in early stages. Considerations : Florent, SPP, Marshall

14 WC - SPP - Excitement machine, can turn a game off his own boot, as well as making some fundamental errors, great attack on the ball and player: Considerations Florent, Marshall, Rotham, Bolton

15 AFC - Florent - Very good ball user who is always on the move or wanting to play on from a mark. Shown in the later part of the year, that he will spend quality minutes through the middle

16 PA - Venables - Has speed and aggression and if he can stay injury free has very good upside. Very good user and finisher in front of goals

17 - BL - Bolton Has speed with very good vision, can win his own ball and doesn't mind it in tight, but needs to stay in the game more often.

18 PA - B. Cox - Will play next year, depending who selects him. Has shown he can play at both ends. As a KPD, he doesn't find a lot of the ball, but is rarely beaten, and is a very good intercept mark. Think this kid will be a reliable 10 year player

19 WB - Hayward - Very smart footballer, who is an aggressive runner, with good finishing skills. Always seems to be at the right place around goal.

20 SYD - Marshall - Like his attack on the ball and man. Like that he tries to take the ball at its highest point. Safe/steady kick at goal. Will take time

Still working on 2nd and 3rd rounds, but thought I would list some contenders for our other picks

25 - If we select a Brodie/Taranto with pick 5 - Mutch/Rotham/Fisher
If we select SPS or Ainsworth slides with pick 5 - Clarke/Drew
Or my preference talls Cox/Sproule/McCreadie/Kerr

For 3rd and 4th rounders, a mixture of Lebois/Ridley/Morrison/Poholke/Romensky/Page/ J. Bolton
