Reading up about and watching footage of Houlahan after seeing people were into him on the wishlist thread. I can see what y'all are saying, he'd be good for us. Probably exactly what we need.

Have a feeling Cerra will be available at our pick. Seems to be the classic second/third choice for clubs above us.

I think Norf would be mad to pass on him, they need him more so than Stephenson. Same with Saints.

I don’t follow the junior leagues and comps all that much, but like reading the projections and reviews etc. when I read through the top prospects I would expect Cerra to go top 3, top 5 at worst. If he’s still available at 9 I’ll eat my hat

I was big on Allen before the Schache panic trade, just too lazy to
change. Pick 9 is defined by what happens above it which is very
hard to predict. I think only St Kilda or Carlton can risk on Bonar
with their multiple picks, but who knows.

I'm curious to know why you can't see us taking the risk on Bonar? Dalrymple can be pretty bold and we also have two picks to play with.

There’s a clear top 5 this year and with Fremantle and St Kilda having double ups before is it’s made for a slider. I’m not saying it’s going to happen, just won’t be shocked if it does.

Especially if Norf are into Stephenson and Saints into Coffield, only need to someone to go early on Bonar and Naughton.

Brisbane - Dow
Fremantle - LUD
Carlton - Rayner
North - Stephenson
Fremantle - Bonar
Collingwood - Naughton
Saints - Coffield
Saints - Brayshaw
Dogs - Cerra

Again, I don’t think it will happen. But it’s really not out of the equation. Mainly due to North loving Stephenson, Fremantle having two picks (can take the risk on Bonar), Pies not needing a midfielder, Saints loving Coffield. Just comes down to Brayshaw or Cerra for Saints.

I think the selections that could make it work are:
5. Fremantle - Fogarty (possibly Naughton/Brander)
6. Collingwood - Coffield (also possibly Naughton/Brander)
8. St Kilda - Bonar (and hopefully the rumours of them loving Brayshaw means they take him at 7)

I wouldn't say it's likely, but definitely possible for Cerra to fall. And if not him, one of the top 7. Just need two of Fogarty, Bonar, Naughton, Brander or Higgins to get taken before us. Would be happy with any of Cerra, Stephenson, Coffield or Brayshaw to be the result of that. Rayner, Dow or LDU pretty much impossible you'd say.

Two knees within 6 weeks is a huge risk with one pick under ten,
but let's face it no one knows when a big injury comes. I feel
the added security of that extra pick gives them the extra
courage to take him as it lessons the risk. He attacks it like Lin
Jong excuse the comparison, these guys find varied new ways
to get hurt.

I'm a fan, interested to see where he ends up?

I’m not as convinced that Dow is guaranteed top 4.

At the moment I'm quietly confident that one of the top 7 will fall to us, which would be the ideal scenario IMO. Not a huge amount has to go right to make it happen.

I still can't believe Gold Coast traded away pick 2, Paddy Dow was a match made heaven for Scott Clayton and the Gold Coast. Why? He fits their needs to a tee as that contested beast and he also fits the great athlete part which Clayton has always had a fetish for (Dow would be in the top 10 for speed and agility at the combine going off his testing earlier in the year). But no, he just had to overpay for another outside mid.

Liking the look of O’Brien after a bit of research, would take him at 9 if available & then best non-KPF forward available at 16

Didn't realise that Crowden was that damn athletic.

I really want Smithson at 82 or as a rookie.

What can you tell me about him? That is a freaking impressive athletic profile.

Inside bull midfielder gets a lot of the footy and has a real mature body already and has played senior SANFL. Long left foot kick, but is quite small (175cm, 88kg). Btw that 88kg is all muscle.

Smithson is the one of interest for our needs he has a history of kicking goals as a forward is taller and has a big body (185cm, 84kg). Also has played and looked good as an inside mid.

The more I think about it the more I think Cerra or Brayshaw is a chance to be at our pick. Look at past drafts, a lot of the time the high production inside mid who isn't 190cm gets overlooked with the top few picks.

2016 - Brodie at #9. Teams opted for Scrimshaw and Logue over him.
2015 - Don't think there is a comparison. Oliver shot up the rankings late but his size was a POD.
2014 - Brayshaw at #3.
2013 - I think Sheed fits the description well, he won the Larke medal. Went at #11. Clubs went for Bontempelli, Sharenberg, Kolo among others over him.
2012 - Wines at #7 is basically what Cerra is. Leader, contested bull, inside mid, model citizen. Clubs went for Macrae, Stringer, Toumpas, O'Rourke over him.

That's the drafts before it was compromised. Maybe I'm just trying to convince myself it might happen.

Sorry for the intrusion but I see your board seemingly think cerra will fall to your pick. You can probably scratch him off your list. I can't see him
Slipping past Collingwood at 6 but if he was to slip to us we would take him infront of anyone in this draft apart from LDU and Rayner.

Well thanks for the correction, we'll adjust our expectations accordingly.

Fair enough, but is this a verified clubland rumour or is this just the general opinion of the posters on your board? Haven't heard any links about Cerra going to Collingwood above Brander or Coffield and I have heard a lot of talk about Brayshaw and Bonar being pretty high on the Saints' list.

Hi all,

pardon the intrusion, hopefully this is the right place to put this!

Just giving a heads up that on Monday 6th of November at 7:30pm I will be chatting with 2 of the Co-founders of AFL Draft Central, Pie 4 life and Bishop (who post a bit on the drafts board here) to speak to them about the upcoming draft.

they will be giving their top 20 player rankings, a in depth review of 8 players (4 each) that have impressed them the most this year as well as a 1st round mock draft.

You will be able to listen to it live via our Spreaker link (which i will post in here on Monday) and you can even use the chat client to ask any specific questions about players you might be after etc.
