Advent Day 24: The Kids are All Right

Some albums from young artists and bands that came out this year. I’ll do the oldies later in the Bring Out Your Dead roundup.

Camp Cope: How To Socialise and Make Friends
Melbourne 3 piece with a bit of a feminist bent. They rock.

Middle Kids: Lost Friends
Another trio, this time from Sydney. Great follow up to last year’s debut EP.

The Goon Sax: We're Not Talking
(Goon sax, like goon sacks, like goon bags, right?) The album notes on Apple Music are just "clever, fun indie-pop at its unpretentious best". That’s pretty spot on. This combo has quite the Brisbane pedigree, with Robert Forster's son one of the members. I think Dean probably likes this band.

Kero Kero Bonito: Totep (EP)
Slightly eird Japanese-English electro pop combo. My kids introduced me to them via some of their more novelty bubblegum type stuff (go search for Flamingo; I’m not going to link it here). This EP is more straight. You could find a track or two from it for your summer poolside playlist.

Illuminati Hotties: KISS Yr Frenemies
Gee I’ve put a lot of girl-rock in here. Debut album from this California group. It’s very good.

I googled advent but didn't really understand what it means.
Filed under "things I didn’t know either until I married a catholic". In the liturgical year it’s the "waiting for Christmas" section. The tradition is one observance a day in the month leading up to Xmas day, usually with the assistance of a calendar type contraption, of which the most common version these days is a cardboard thing with 24 little doors behind each one of which is a chocolate.

Isn’t it a Latin word? You’d be all over that

Hey ferball, seeing you like The National and War on Drugs, you might like these guys, "Tired Pony". Have a listen.... you might recognise a few faces, or even a familiar voice or two :)

I finally got round to listening to this yesterday. Cheers BoomerRoo. Been listening to a few of their songs.

Finally twigged where that voice was from after seeing the username of whoever posted this song:
