Wins: 13
Ladder finish:7
Finals result: Lose in second week.

Best and Fairest: Jake Carlisle.
Leading goalkicker: Membrey.
Most possessions: Ross

Big improvers: Paddy, Dunstan, Gresh.
No longer first choice (by the end of the year): Brown.
Gone after 2018: Gilbert, Wright, Lonie.

Not having a go at anyone however it's interesting that there are at least 3 posters so far who have Paddy winning our goal kicking but do not have him included in the "Big Improvers" category.

Given his career achievements to date, that is either a big oversight by those posters, or they expect Paddy to be our leading goal kicker with about 5 majors.

Hope it's the former, cos if it's the latter, then god help us [emoji15]

Wins: 13
Ladder finish: 6th
Finals result: Win first week against fellow VIC side. Second week taken out by a South Australian side.

Best and Fairest: Dylan Roberton
Leading goalkicker: Tim Membrey
Most possessions: Seb Ross

Rising Star Nominees:
Brandon White

Big improvers: The young brigade - Billings, Steele, Acres, Gresham, Dunstan, Sinclair, White, McCartin, Lonie
No longer first choice (by the end of the year): I feel that there are roughly 30 players vying for spots in the Best 22. So there may be a few!
Gone after 2018: Minchington, Wright, Phillips, Pierce

Best Emerging Young Player:
Jade Gresham
Robert Harvey Best Clubman: Maverick Weller
Lenny Hayes Player Trademark: David Armitage

Wins: 11
Ladder finish: 9th to 10th
Finals result: N/A

Best and Fairest: Jack Steven
Leading goalkicker: Josh Bruce
Most possessions: Seb Ross

Big improvers: Long, Steele, Gresham
No longer first choice (by the end of the year): Probably Brown and Gilbert, although I like both of them as players, to be honest. He's fringe at the moment, but I think Stevens may get pushed down in the pecking order below Dunstan permanently.
Gone after 2018: as per everyone else: Minch, Wright, Brown dependent upon his own fitness and the progression of Logan and Goddard, some of the players who are unfortunately perpetually injured may be in the firing line. Armitage dependent on fitness. Lonie possibly.

I'm not so sure on Koby, he's just had his groin released and says he's the best he's ever felt. At the Dogs the injuries kept losing him his walk up starts and he'd find it hard to break back in. If his body lets him play I reckon he could actually be one of our better mids. He can play inside and outside which coaches love. The only way he gets pushed out is if they decide players like Acres and Dunstan have much higher ceilings and decide not to persist with him or injuries keep him out.

So even though we missed a big fish we gotta be pretty happy with the salary cap pressure applied to Freo, Tigers, and especially the Giants.

What about Port Adelaide? Would they be under salary cap pressure as well with all the players they recruited from other clubs?
i see a lot of Brisbane in the way Port have loaded up... history shows that doesnt end well

It's real roll of the dice stuff. To me it's a bit like North Melbourne, they see the window being open and have gone super hard at stacking the list. History shows that being just off the pace doesn't win premierships either, sometimes the bravery rewards you, sometimes it bites you on the bum. They have some very good players on their list and if they can get them all going at once they aren't far off. If the Chad gets back to his best they will be a much better teams is.

i agree they have got a pretty strong side i just think they have gone the ultra top up too early... there is no real need to be impatent for them their core that could lead them to a flag is not like North's they are still young and have lots of good footy infront of them i think topping up too much brings a mindset that someone else is going to be the differance.. If Port dont jag a flag in the next 2 years i reckon they will be destined for mid table for a very prolonged period

If we are actually going to take the next step this year we need some all Australian years from at least two players.

Carlisle, Billings, Ross and Steven the most likely and probably the only ones capable of doing it at the moment.

Gresham might be a chance if he stays forward and kicks straight.

I'm sure the other guy who made the squad of 40 this year is capable to making the team as well.
