Ok so, this year was a surprisingly one in that we actually reached the GF with the run of injuries we had, well done. Other teams may say we were lucky with the draw we had and Richmond playing injured players, yes but good for us.

2 premierships in 60 years out of 15 attempts or so is not what I want to see. I don’t know what it is we can do about it but it really is getting beyond a joke how many we have lost. No one goes out to lose one but ffs the chokers tag does fit.

Having said that for 2019 to go well we need to get May as a defensive rock, allow Howe to be the intercept making beast he can be. We need a good key forward to play with Cox and let the awesome mid sized players to do what they did this year and get a real X factor player. Kirby was going to be that but we don’t know where he stands next year medically. Jok could be that player as a rookie pick up.

We need to restock NOW while Pendles and Steele are still at their best and not like Geelong are trying to do, too late for them.

While I have been a bit over the top posting sometimes, I get frustrated with people who just trust what we’ve got and don’t make changes. 2010 came about from MM pushing the rotations and using the Boundry and moving on some older players. Let’s make 2019 the start of a dynasty and if I say something that is not your opinion remember that some of us want the team to succeed and don’t just barrack for the team regardless and think they shit gold.
Peace out ✌️

I think we need another key position player. But saying that, if we keep Moore and he stays fit, then we don't.

I don't think we need two, we shouldn't abandon our whole style just to try to match West Coast. We nearly beat them despite playing a pretty poor game and getting a bad run of decisions at times. Someone we can throw forwards or back is what I'd like.

I also think with so many younger players and so many players only just playing finals for the first time, we'll have a vastly more seasoned team next year. And that alone should make us better in finals (and in the season).

Getting May if the price is right, l am ok with, but getting our talls fit and healthy all year has to be a priority.
Rather go to the draft though, time to bring in more talent, develop them and of course the game plan will need tweaking.

I believe an actual, full time ruck coach who is a former ruckman is a priority.

Kitchen sink should be thrown at Monkhorst. Imagine what Grundy could be with that kind of tutelage

Assuming we keep Elliot. Get him fit. He’s an A-grade weapon.
There are no key forwards ready to walk in. Lynch is Richmond-bound. Put as much work into Cox as possible.
Word is May is going to Melbourne... do we really need him anyway? We kept a HOT WCE forward line to under 80 points.
Keep Moore, re-sign him and get him fit and reading off the script. I’d love him @ CHF. Omg... I can just imagine him tearing around the forward half. We have to sell him the script!
Go to the draft. Unless (in the unlikely event) we can snare Gaff or Lynch as free agents, use our picks on Quaynor, Kelly and some tough little Fijian forward pocket from the Chargers that we can snare as a Cat B.

Fresh blood needed.
Natural improvement will happen....

DeGoey in the guts.
Stevenson to the wing (we saw snippets this year)
A new role for Pendles in his Golden years?
Time for McLarty? How many times can the kid be in our best in the Reserves before he gets a gig in the seniors?

I was thinking of McLarty a little bit earlier this evening. I hope that he comes on, and I think that he will, but he didn't have a stellar season at VFL this year. Not sure how much the forward role suited him. He has time, but I'm not expecting him to burst upon the senior scene with a vengeance in 2019.

Elliott is the big one for me. He's a genuine forward target, dangerous at ground level, and he could certainly release one of JDG or Stephenson up the ground.

But I do have hopes for McLarty, Nathan Murphy after a decent pre-season, Sier with another pre-season, Moore re-signed and healthy etc. There's hope!

Not to sure if this is the thread for it.
However....

Not sure if I'd be in such a hurry to drop Sidebottom just yet. Few other questionables in there too I'd say, but now's not the time.

I would like the club to back Sam McLarty in at FB. He is a beast of a lad at 197cm and 96kgs. I read earlier this week that he is still growing. Has good hands and a thumping kick. I would stay away from May.

After today’s game it is clear we need another midfielder with outside run and a tall forward. Would love Jack Martin from GCS. Only 23, and at 186cm is quick, has great hands for his size, very good kick either foot. He has been GCS’s fix-it man playing BP, HB, wing, midfield, and forward.

There is not too many, if any tall forwards available. I would love Jeremy Cameron but that is pie-in-the sky stuff. I would like the Pies to shake the GWS tree and see what may possibly fall.

Sier and Nathan Murphy can only benefit from another pre-season.

I would love Moore to get the assistance he requires as it appears that he has no trust in his body whatsoever. Bucks said earlier this week that Darcy had been training very well, however Darcy hadn’t put his hand up for selection. It was reported Moore and the Pies are still a long way apart on $$$ and length of contract. A fit Darcy Moore opens up so many possibilities.

I would be happy for the following to be traded or delisted: Fasolo, Murray, Blair, Aish, Greenwood, Broomhead, Smith, Wills and Wells if it would facilitate a trade and improve our list.

The only way Wells will stop is if the medical prognosis is poor. $500k is too much to pass up when you are on the downhill slide into retirement. If we get anything games out of Elliott that would be great but I have my fingers crossed more so than expecting he will play.

Wills is the only one on that list I’d keep. Had a bad run with injuries and is another beast like Sier.

Awesome post.
Love it!

I like him and at 191cm he is a beast, but he is perennially injured. Prior to mid season he was ahead of Sier but not now. As an inside mid who does he replace?.

Anyone except sier and Adams from today’s team. We got walloped in the middle

Darcy didn't put his hand up for selection? After 6 weeks to fix his hamstrings?? If this is true and he is protecting his next move / contract, then he should be let go. Involve him in a trade for Shiel, gaff or Martin and develop McLarty, Mihocek, Kelly and Cox.
Some players need to stop listening to their agents amd own hype, and instead develop a bit of maturity, credibility and selflessness.

Mihocek has proven and delivered to much to be languishing in the 2s next season. Guys a team first player and plays his role to a tee
