Alright. I haven't done this before. A new topic

My belief is that this year is another development year for our young list and 2019 is the year we can expect to start really pushing for and winning finals. So, how does our side look at the start of 2020 especially as it may be the line up for No.17 and beyond.

B: Docherty Weitering Marchbank
HB: Byrne Jones Williamson

Foll: Kruezer Dow SPS
C:
J.Kelly Cripps O'Brien

HF: Charlie McKay Pickett
F: Murphy DeKoning LeBois

Int from: Kennedy Plowman Curnow Fisher Garlett Jack Cuningham Polson Schumacher McDaid Lang Macreadie Pick 5 2018, 2 x Second Rounders 2018, BSOS, Hickmott Plus a couple of FA's.

IMO names in Bold will definitely be a part of our list.

Only changes over next 2 years will be retirements or depth delistings and they will be replaced by younger, more talented players.

Not only hard to select but has depth, speed, flexibility and great ball use with no obvious weaknesses. Importantly they have developed together and don't forget the coach who is doing a great job.

I'm confident it's not just No.17 but a few more

Go Blues!:)

I would have initially told you to not think so far ahead, but then that would be killing most of the joy blues fans can hold onto right now.

So I will just come around and say 'good thread'! :D :thumbsu:

Not sure how this doesn't fall under the list management thread, but I think you need to stop being so bullish on LeBois, Soapy V. He doesn't look anywhere near it right now.

Not enough love for Macreadie here either.

Backline to big Soapy .
We've gotta find or groom a small defender .
Williamson to the wing , we can add FA's and recruits in due course .
I like Macreadie who is missing from your list but where to slot him in ?
Your interchange displays our growing depth of talent and as you point out , it's only going to get stronger with more drafting/trading .
Hard to see where the Silvagni/Bolton alliance have put a foot wrong since they've taken the reigns , it's been a very well planned operation and I'm loving watching it unfold :thumbsu:

Both but more on the durability side given his age.
Have you watched the JLT this year? Got plenty of the ball, looked good carrying it and disposing of it, took the game on. Still needs to work on his awareness and staying goalside when defending, but if he stays on the park is not projecting backline to me any more, but midfield and wing.

I'm concerned about his durability, but if he can string some games together, he's got enough tricks and natural attributes to get by.

Macreadie is in there. He's a star

Question is who's spot does he take and is it forward or back?

Is it really that big with Byrne Willo & Docherty who are very mobile? We also play the space/zone more than the man. I also believe Weitering & Marchbank/Plowman are mobile as well. These days we drop 1-2 players back minimum to help which will be O'Brien or Kelly and/or SPS etc

I am also hoping Cuningham will make it as a HBF

Anyway my comments were more about the entire squad than positioning. They don't stay in one place anyway ;)

I see it as becoming a strength. Certainly improved this year

Definitely improving, but it’s still not there yet. I’m confident that in 1-2 years, this will be a non-issue as we’ve been investing in midfielders with top notch disposal that are more mobile.

But the height of the team is extremely concerning. Weitering, Jones, Marchbank, Plowman and Williamson down back. Kruez and Cripps in the centre. HMac, Cas, JSOS and C.Curnow up front. It’s too top heavy.

Wondering if the Saints and Hawks thought the same thing

We're also due for a Best 22 at 23rd July 2018 at 5pm. Don't forget the Best 22 at 12th April 2019 at 6:01pm.

I think what Soap is trying to achieve is an overlay in a few years of where the gaps will lie in the team. Ergo our drafting needs over the next couple of years.
