An easy D for this trade period, closer to an F than anything.

But probably the first time ever we have a real chance for a non-draft period A the next 2 years. Just a chance, but yes I am sayihng there is a chance. Might even snag someone who not only is good, but most posters think is good (cause they are 2 different things it seems).

Some things to do
  • Re-sign Ando and Rowell as early as possible
  • Get King and Powell back and fit for rnd 1
  • Improve the contact work for both Sharp and Rosas or they won't play much
  • Put a rocket up Chol to improve his tank
  • Get another pre-season of useful work into the other 22 and unders, especially Davies, Flanders, Hollands, The Crab, Andrew, Jeffrey, Moyle who are either best 22 or first replacement
  • Crowbar Luko into a useful spot on the field
  • Get the best out of Ainsworth and Collins, a bit more out of Farrar and Ballard
  • Get something out of Long and Berry
  • Have Touk and Wittsy at least hold their level if not get better (but can't expect them to be better).

Get most of those right, will be an improvement on this year, and be set up for a big trade period.

If not, probably a good bye to Dew and Cameron. And there will be much rejoicing on the board (of the self-hate variety) and much revisionist history. But most importantly, a long line of candidates for both positions.

Agree with this.

Re: Dew - didn't he extend until 2024? Doubt it's finals or bust for him this year in that case. Unless this season is a disaster you'd expect him to see out the contract at a minimum.

Hopefully he can continue to work on his game and make a mark next year.
There is certainly opportunity there.
We have him for next year but pretty sure he'll be off in 2024 - or - even as I have been told, in the mid season draft. Wouldn't he have to retire for that to happen? Pretty reliable informant so might be smoke and fire - let's wait and see. He definitely wants to go home. Best thing for us is to play him all year and get him motivated to stay on the GC.

Yeah can’t go in mid season draft?
Sad, he has some legitimate AFL skills.

Having already lost Rankine, Bowes and Corbett, the Club would have been desperate to keep Fiorini and Sharp, if only to help stabalise things around the club. Still on the deficit side when you factor in losing Pick 7 and only picking up Long and Berry. Received a D rating for this year's Trade Performance which seems about right. Now - the absolute priority is to sign Anderson before Hawks huge chest of funds is put on the table. Rowell leaving would be bad but Anderson leaving would be a massive blow. Fingers crossed he's not like our little friend Izak!

A couple of Suns relevant names in the draft combine results.

Notice Van Es tested very well, might be worth a late pick if we want another developing defender?

You'd think with Rowell and Anderson if one stays the other will too?

Agree with this.

That would be 6 years for Dew, and 2024 is a deadset massive year for the club (King off contract, our best young players heading into their early prime of 23 and 24 years old). Can't waste a year if they think he has run out of ideas/motivation.

And because we are an AFL funded club, senior coaches have a 6 month payout if they are fired.

Dew gets a pass to this point, but if we stagnate next year and have some bigger losses, he should be gone.

Nice Lloyd.

Van Es sounds very promising.

Pickering said this morning on SEN that Jed Anderson would have joined Suns if Fiorini went to Collingwood. He talked about Suns having limited spots. It will be interesting to see if Jed could end up on our rookie list, we certainly have spots there.

Is he delisted?
