Aboriginal Round

From the moment Joey Johnson took the field for Fitzroy in the early 1900s, he became the standard bearer that created a pathway for future generations of Aboriginal kids. Sir Doug Nicholls, forced from a club that he was training with due to racism, laid the foundations for others, showing his people that grit and determination could overcome the obstacle and pain of racism. We marvelled at Big Polly, one of the Stolen Ones who changed the way the game was played. We saw the Krakouer brothers set Waverley alight, and we looked on in awe at perhaps the greatest of them all, Stephen Michael, oh what could have been. We watched as the Aboriginal players of the 70s and 80s were berated, ridiculed and tormented, yet they still turned up week in and week out to play for their clubs. We were there when Nicky took a stand and said ‘no more’ and Michael made the long walk to ensuring that future generations of Aboriginal players did not have to face the wrath of racists both on and off the field. We hung our heads in shame as a champion was booed from the game. We were blessed to see Buddy, Rioli, Lewis, Goodes, Matera, Wanganeen and so many more champions of the game. So, in this Aboriginal Round, stop and reflect on the great contributions that Aboriginal players have made to the game but take a moment to think about those lost to the game due to racism or a lack of understanding of Aboriginal culture. Think about those that pulled on their jumpers every week knowing the torrent of abuse that was ahead.
So now we turn to Supercoach, and like the great spirit dreaming's, let us dream, dream big, dream high and may all your Supercoach dreams come true this weekend.

Made the call to start J Richards on the ground paid off. Can now put the C on Livingstone and take Ryan's VC score.

Might have been a square-up for the Rankine call last week.

Another technically correct, but often ignored rule.

Both calls were right, but it's frustrating they are inconsistent in their rulings.
I'd admired Naico's leadership and calm immediately after the decision - clearing his team-mates away to ensure they didn't make a bad situation worse by giving away a 50m penalty and a certain goal

All you *ers whinging about having Serong VC, I had Heeney VC and then C'ed Serong. Go * yourselves!

Only one big Captain's score all season so far. Ok, there's some decent returns in there, but only one hit in the last 4 weeks, 3 out of 11 under 200:
Round 1: Took Naicos VC 135 x 2, missed Gawn 162 = 270
Round 2: Rejected Gawn VC 113, Green C 137 x 2 = 274
Round 3: Rejected Serong VC 125, Butters C 98 x 2 = 196
Round 4: Took Gawn VC 129 x 2 = 258
Round 5: Rejected Green VC 72, Butters 130 x 2 = 260
Round 6: Rejected Green VC 82, Heeney 98 x 2 = 196
Round 7: Took Gawn VC 162 x 2 = 324
Round 8: Rejected Butters VC 124, Green 5 x 2 = 10 !!!!
Round 9: Rejected Gawn VC 111, Butters 147 x 2 = 294
Round 10: Rejected Naicos VC 105, Gawn 109 x 2 = 218
Round 11: Rejected Heeney VC 94, Serong 91 x 2 = 182

Thing is I was 50-50 on Bont or Heeney, just tipped towards Heeney last minute because I thought he would be a POD VC. Last night I was 50-50 on Naicos or Serong...

Ok - huge SC day coming up.
Hopefully, my premos score like premos!

Butters Houston Xerri Fisher
Rowell Flanders Sexton McKay
VC Green
Zerrett Martin

Let’s go

Jiska - keep up the campaign about AFL scheduling

Seriously, going to the Blues game now & will miss the other important SC game

I like one clash per weekend.
I hate the late Sunday games
2 games on Saturday night is ideal

I was thinking about the Martin C play also, but a little nervous as to whether Ridley’s inclusion (without dropping a defender) results in him playing further up the field.
I'm not sure how we fit Ridley into the backline without moving Martin out of there, so yeah it would take huge balls to C him

What rules Uncle? How often have you seen that free kick paid? Never is the answer. How many times in a game does the player just drop the ball to the ground after a whistle and NOT hand the ball over. All the bloody time is the answer. It was bullsheet. The entire football world knows it.

Top it off, he didn’t even apply the rule correctly because it was obvious to all the player wasn’t time wasting.

Don’t be a Malaka too just stir the pot.
How many times have you seen the player pick up the ball at a stoppage and hand it to another player? Never. Players don’t do it because they know it’s against the rules. The rule is not that you have to hand the ball to the umpire, the rule is that you can’t hand the ball to another player. Dropping the ball to the ground is not against the rules. We can’t have umpires deciding which rules they are going to follow and which rules they’re not going to follow. It would be mayhem. What we need is umpires paying free kicks that are there. If you’re looking for someone to blame, blame Sullivan. Or the 13 points Freo kicked after that decision. Attempting to point the finger at the umpire for the result because he followed the rules of the game is pissweak. A better argument would be that the rule should be removed.
