Richmond fans I have a general question, who do you guys prefer at this early stage, for your first pick and hopefully we can both get additional picks as the top two players are off the board. I feel it’s a bit underwhelming that the two best open players are a ruck and small forward, I think they’d have to be max gawn and Pickett level good to justify that early of a selection. I feel it might be a draft where trading down might be a good idea, and getting multiple bites at the cherry, but usually there’s a player that bolts up the order.

I know you guys from memory we’re disappointed not getting Robey but I like how your recruiters actually build a squad that’s balanced and actually addressing key holes in your list, I’ve only not like 2 selections and that’s the Jonty Faull over Shanahan and Smillie over Tauru, which I did say at the time but overall you can’t get every pick correct.
Butler probably.
I wanted Robey at the time but Grjl looks good and after the weekend I think he’ll end up a very good mid.

Let’s see how Robey develops. I think at worst he’ll be a very good third forward. If he turns into a gun mid you’ve hit pay dirt.

I also like Farrow as a half back. Uses it well. Sharp looks one paced and if Robey doesn’t run two ways in the midfield you could end up very much like the plodding Carlton midfield we see today. Full of very good players, but going no where as a team.

HVH at this stage. Butler needs to show more as a mid or there will be a tank on between our teams for big Haz

You don’t understand the pain, literally every person that watched Tstits play or at least watched highlights could see how shite he was, and to know you could of picked players like Humphrey, McKenzie, Phillipou and get a bum like this. That and the Ben Hobbs picks in back to back years just deflates you knowing these guys are vfl players.
Thank you for not accepting our offer to trade up for Hobbs.....

😬

Besides Walker there doesn’t seem to be a pure midfielder in the ranks which is a shame for us.

HVH seems like a great prospect but we’ve seen rucks slide significantly in past drafts (besides) CDT.
Herbert may be in the same category.

Lucky us that they passed and we took Brown & some other potato.

Its a bit like the Yarran trade when they drafted Cunningham. I think we won because we cut ties after 1 year and they held that spud forever 😂😂

Arki is probably the correct answer, however think I'd be comfortable with HVH. With a end of 1st compo (if it happens) and 2nd I'd be looking at a noah williams or cody Templeton (would have to trade up the draft order for these id think) and would then just want to make sure we had enough for our academy/fatherson selections

I'd love to come away from this draft with Marlon Neoculous.

Little pocket rocket, I love this kid he's all class.
I like him, but feel he’d have to dominate in the middle consistently for me to consider a really high pick on him. Think he’s shaping as a Nick Watson type

Yeah agree. Sub 178cm player at AFL level will look different to talent league. But he plays with an energy very similar to Liam Baker but has the skills of Shane Edwards.

we'll probably get pick 1-3 this year. that will give us another top level mid fielder. we need to trade for a 21-23 yr old ruck with 2nd/3rd pick. we have enough key position players. need some players with break away speed. have enough forward with what we have added Alger, NRT and peucker and the top picks resting forward.

then just add free agents and more mature bodies along the next few years.

If he is there with the compo pick or our R2 pick I hope we take him. Big upgrade on our current small forwards and could add to our midfield mix as well.

Neocleous is building into his season nicely, putting together his best game so far in round 3 in helping Gippsland to a solid win. He started forward for most of the game but used his running power to roam up the ground and provide a marking outlet for his teammates in transition. He used the ball well, applied strong defensive pressure and mostly important hit the scoreboard with 4 goals.

from limited vision he looks to be tracking better than cdt. he can take contested marks and actually ruck. im still not sure what cdt got drafted so high for.

Can’t wait to watch Samson get schooled by an underage HVH in a couple of weeks time in the academy game
