lol we on traded it…
How do you think we got Houston?
Magic beans?

You’re clutching hard like it was never an option for us to hold
Multi-team trades aren’t a particularly hard concept to grasp. We never had pick 13 FFS

Just because multi teams were involved it doesn’t mean we didn’t have access to that selection.

The whole thing hinged on us getting pick 13…

And the Suns knew it because they committed to a contracted player they needed to get over the line.

Take Houston out of the equation, what would the deal have been had we still dealt the suns noble?

Instead of Houston we would have ended up holding pick 13…

What’s so difficult to grasp in this scenario?

Sure we fancied the player hence why we let it go to port in exchange for Houston coming our way …

But without that as the centrepiece of the transaction, Suns weren’t getting Noble

You’re trying to excuse us by adding layers in there to make it “feel better”

The suns wanted John noble
They weren’t getting him without us having access to pick 13.
We weren’t going to accept a pick in the 30s for him alone
We held the cards here on that selection hence why the suns didn’t deal it elsewhere and could have as offers for it were better than ours

We traded our F1 to bring that in along with noble

Sure we ended up on trading it then for Houston but the reality is we didn’t need to trade in Houston and could have taken that pick to the draft.

We didn’t because we thought Houston would help us

Hasn’t panned out great
The rest is history

You are incorrect. That’s not how three-way trades work. I will leave it at that.

You can make any excuse you want to deflect it but it was a poor decision in the end

If you cannot accept that it worked out terribly for us, you can carry on continuing to bury your head in the sand

It was a poor transaction in the end for us

We got no value out of it to date

He seems to think participants have the option to say mid trade “ let’s stop here - I’m happy”.
Absolute rubbish.
Can the club do no wrong in your eyes?
Can they not take an L and you sit there and say, yep that’s poor. That’s an L.

You’re a politician on here

I’m certain of it

When so many have piled in to prove you are incorrect on this issue, I think it’s clear the club did nothing wrong.

Anything else?

LOL, stop digging! You’re completely wrong, just accept it and move on

Take Houston out of the equation and GC trade pick 13 to Melbourne for their F1 and Pick 28.

We trade Noble to GC for maybe pick 28

No we don’t.
Why do we need to trade a contracted player with 2 years to run on his deal for pick 28?

That’s nonsense and you know we wouldn’t be doing that
We held the cards on that player and his future just like others do it to us with contracted players

Neale over Butters is quite obvious I'd imagine. Pay half as much in terms of salary and give away no draft capital to fill other holes. Who knows, we might even draft the next Zak Butters this year with our first rounder
Don't forget Rowell is a FA next year I believe...Come on down in 2028.

Take this shit to the past trades thread. You're bloating this one up with dead end arguments. It's boring.

Yea well either way pick 13 weren't heading to us when Melbourne had their F1 (in a year they finished bottom 5) and pick 28 on offer for it.

Pick 13 was either heading to Port to unlock the Houston/Lukosious multi trade or it was heading to Melbourne for their superior pick offer. We realised pretty quickly that Noble wasn't that big a bargaining chip and GC weren't willing to give up that much for him when they had Rioli coming in.

We made a mistake in doing that transaction in hindsight

Do you agree?

Or are you satisfied with the outcome?
No I do not agree. Noble, Richards and a mediocre pick for Houston was 1) good value for us then, 2) still fine now given those players wanted out, and 3) doesn’t belong in this thread

Yea I would do that trade over and over again. So much more upside in AA quality Houston if we're able to unlock his best which has showed in some games this year but not all.

I’ll ask one more and leave it
I’m asking you in hindsight are you happy with the outcome of what we have received in this transaction?
Not at the time of it but 2 years later.
Now…do you think we have gotten full value out of our prized recruit?

They’re two separate discussions. The outgoing trade value isn’t relevant to how we’ve used Houston on the park, which I thought wasn’t very good last season and this season has ranged from great to poor.

Twomey on Gettable claiming we’re “not giving up” on Butters alongside Neale, describing that as a “utopia”.

FMD, a utopia might actually be quite conservative a description of that outcome. I would be on a 3 day bender if we nabbed both
