We have a beauty in Sam Cumming

Just think Trent Cotchin & Isaac Heeney mix
Heeney is probably the best mark for his size in the comp and Cotch is a legend.

I just hope he gets a few games for starters

Big wraps on the kid with Yze stating in terms of talent, Cumming is not far behind Lalor.

Also, that vision of him from the match sim where he got the clearance amongst 4 players, shrugging off a tackle was exciting to watch.

Will inherit the number 9 in 2027.

Love it.
Just seems to be something about him that gives me the feeling that Lalor and Hotto might be the highlight reel machines but this kid will be the future heart and soul of our club

he seems to have the perfect balance of extractor and the ability to take it from inside to out himself. I'd be skipping vfl with this kid, just get him senior games, hes been playing against men since what 14 years old, hes ready.

Yeah
Gives me Joel Selwood vibes

All the predraft write ups highlighted his work rate in the midfield and desire to work defensively.
That on top of some incredible SANFL performances was the big seller for me.
He appears to be a great fit for our young midfield who all have attacking flair. I’m not saying Sam doesn’t as well but I think that defensive side to his game is a great fit.

Surely plays Round 1

Barring injury I think it’s more who doesn’t play, based on not much bar senior players getting first crack and the various training reports (so not my own first choice but what I think Yze and co will do) but…

Vlas Miller broad
Short Balta brown
McAuliffe hopper Sonsie
Seth Faull lalor
Mrj Lynch mansell
Nank TT ross

Gibcus bank Hotton Kelts (2nd ruck)

So one spot and no Cumming, Grlj, Trainor, Steeley, Ralphsmith, Retscheko, Alger, Armstrong, Trezise and Gray yet. Maybe Swap Jonty and Harry.

Not sure McAuliffe or Sosie are locks, and yeah I'd have Armstrong marginally ahead of Faull. Cumming plays too IMO.

That leaves Sonsie, McAuliffe, Grlj, Ralphsmith, Retschko, Trezise and Alger fighting it out for the last 2 spots IMO.

Who are the wingers then? Just going by Caesar and co info but seems like McAullife, Sonsie, retscheko, Alger and Ralphsmith are generally the guys rolling through there in match sim.

I could see Trainor getting one spot, but I reckon chucking a first year player in a spot where you need them to run all day is probably not ideal.

Personally I’d drop short and Mansell and get Grlj and Cumming in, but don’t see that happening.

Yeah sounds like all of those guys have rolled through the wings at match sim. Highly doubtful both Retschko and Ralphmsith both play, so maybe one of them in to play defensive wing and the last spot to best performed in the praccy matches?

Reckon Trainor will have to wait for an opening in the backline.

Have heard Club are looking at maybe 3 to 4 debuts.

Grlj, Cumming all but locked, Retschko a very strong chance and there have been some whispers about Peucker potentially being a rough chance as well.

You just know Short wont miss a game hes fit for over the next two years despite not really adding much to our backline that a kid like grlj, kaleb smith, trezise etc wouldn't.

We know Retschko can run all day and seems to have improved his kicking but what's he like in a contest?

Trainor has been training back so it is hard to see him on the wing.
You would think that McAuliffe would have a good shot at it but not full time. Wing bench midfield.
Ross perhaps a bit the same.

I think there will only be one dedicated wingman and that is probably Hugo first dibs at this stage.
Sonsie and Retscheko might get a go, especially Sonsie, but a lot depends on who really steps up the next two practice matches.

I hope not.

Trainor doesn’t really have a spot until Broad and Vlastuin are gone

So you’ve got Cumming taking last spot on bench?

Have heard Club are looking at maybe 3 to 4 debuts.

I’m personally all for this, but match committees are usually conservative especially early in year. For 3 debuts who then misses out?

In the leadership group so think he’ll be one of the first picked all year unfortunately.
