Known to his fans as 'Super'. He was a tough half-back flanker with the muscles to go with it. Played a lot on the half forward flank where he could kick numerous goals

One of the Bulldogs' stalwarts of his era. Great team man who was a reliable kick. His brother Rod also played in the same team before Rod was sent up North to Brisbane. They would back each other up and were a formidable combination

During a reserves game at the Western Oval (pre Whitten Oval), I saw Mick Thomson ex Essendon, but playing for Richmond at the time have a shot at Rod or Steve McPherson. I can't remember which one, but it didn't matter, because to his surprise he then had to tangle with both McPherson boys.

Injury riddled in the 1993 season. Hosted the club's TV and radio shows and various night functions.

One of the Doggies favourite sons.

Took him a while before he got his first game. Showed a lot of promise and it seemed as though he would be something special but never delivered anything that made you feel as though he was set for greatness.

Dislocated his elbow in 2000 and missed several matches.

Walked out on the club and disappointed everyone.

Traded in the 2002 National Draft to StKilda for pick 17 for which we received Cameron Faulkener.

One of my main memories of Super is him singing American Pie at the Save The Dogs rally.

Penny.. A daddy's boy who followed the lead of an 'interfering' parent.. Much like Philipossis's Dad or Dokic's Dad..

Was all-so-sad at one point of time in training and suddenly out of nowhere appears a 4WD that he might not have been able to afford......???

Here is a suggestion. when you want to start trash-talking the club that started your 'career' (HAHAHAH!) and you are the one that has walked out, make sure that you aren't speaking such crap to the extent that it makes its way back to the club

And another thing, if you have a GF don't hit on another chick with the same name if you can't identify which one you are talking to on the phone! Having both meet up at the B+F meant you were never gonna get anywhere... But I guess you managed to make them both friends with each other.....and get simulataniously dumped!!

Another No 27 was Neil Bristo (think thats how its was spelt), played in the late 70's or early 80's, had a day out at Glenferrie Oval one day against Hawthorn which made the centre pages of the Sun (when footy was always at the back), disappeared as quickly as he arrived.

Neil Bristow. Kicked the winner against the Hawks when we beat them in one of Ian Hampshires first games as coach in '82 or '83. We were bottom at the time and they were top.

Outside of the football field I always remember going to a season wash up at the Victoria Club (??) and it was like, where were you the day JFK died. Super had the solemn duty of announcing that Princess Di had passed away. I'll always remember that day and how well Stephen handled it.

Of course he didn't always display that sort of maturity when he was very young. Wasn't there some controversy, maybe a broken jaw he dished out in a fundraiser bushfire pre season game, I think it was against Collingwood. At about the same time I seem to remember him being involved in a scuffle at beer garden down at Torquay or Angelsea that attracted police attention.

Once again, legend has it that we signed up Rod to make sure that we got Stephen who was the real talent.

Kicked a goal after the siren another day at the MCG to win or draw a game.

"Super", I always enjoyed watching, he seemed to always just give his all each and every game.
