Player Watch #3: Dion Prestia - Charged By Police (Innocent Until Proven Guilty)

At least with Miles in we wont be a man short with the absent of the kick chaser. I thought after his two av 15.5 km jogs he was fully fit? Wouldn't surprise me if the club are hiding him from the treatment he will get from the crowd, but then again to my naked eye he's looked slow ,unfit and near enough to useless all year.

Is Miles fit though ?

Hmm, Prestia out. We need to bring in both Townsend in if Miles isn't fit IMO or else we may go in this game short of midfielders like the Fremantle game earlier this year.

Ablett and May in for GC and we rest Prestia. Hmmm...
Well, this may not be as easy as some of us thought if both of them are coming in.

We'll still beat them as they're horrible. There last win was RD15 against North who have lost 7 straight.

Wow, a 6-day break after that slog we had against GWS. This is reminding me of the six-day break we had heading into the Adelaide game after battling hard against Melbourne...
Makes sense to rest him for an interstate game.

I am not feeling as confident as before the GWS, Port Adelaide and Carlton games this week, but all I'll say is that this clash against Gold Coast is a must-win for me. We are the only side to have never defeated Gold Coast at Metricon Stadium in the competition and we need to break that quickly.

Yeah, we have only played them there once for a loss, but you know how things go if we lose this weekend and a journalist realises that we actually haven't won there yet. The pressure would probably heap on us to win at Metricon just like it did with EFs for us or what they do to West Coast with their MCG record. It could then get turned into a big deal of "Richmond can't win at Metricon" whenever we play them there and then we go on to choke multiple times at Metricon + they lift for us knowing we have this weakness.

Yeah, this is a bit of a slippery-slope type of argument, but still. We know that things like this have happened before. If Gold Coast can win twice against us in their first two years of expansion, then we better close this "Metricon duck" now by winning this game. It took us a bit to recover from our Gold Coast problem early on so let's just get this one over and done with while it isn't a big deal yet.

"We'll put him on ice and make sure he's right for next week. He's too important a player for us too risk on a six-day break. He'll get back for the Hawthorn game.

"It's a combination of [knee soreness] and calf and those sorts of things. Once one starts the other one starts to flare up a little bit.

"He was probably due to have a break at some stage. He's missed a lot of footy over the last two years and pre-season he didn't complete to the level both he and us would like.

"Prestia's training program has been heavily managed this season because of past knee issues and he missed two matches early in the season because of hamstring soreness.

Dude we have only played them once there, settle down...

I am just explaining the reason why I think this is a must-win game. Do you remember when we first lost to Gold Coast and it was "oh, we have only played them once"? Yeah, we finally evened the ledger with them last year after 6 seasons, with us still being their best team in their win-loss records (3-3 while having a losing record to everyone else).

Gold Coast at Metricon is not an issue for us right now given that we only "played them once there", but it still is a must-win game. If we win, no problem, but if we lose, this may snow-ball into a big deal like some of our other failings end up doing (finals 2013-2015, making finals 2001-2012 etc.). Just saying, gotta win this one.

got to win all games now , we drop a few and eagles and drugs etc keep winning 8 could be curtains. Theres no way Demons lose this week either with Norf tanking.

Despite still carrying a couple of niggles Prestia has still covered 31.5km over the last two weeks the most by a Tigers player. Given he is still being managed a week off after 16km on a heavy track with a short break and traveling interstate is no issue. Freshen him up for a big 6-8 weeks to end the season.

This tells us that there is no way he has been as fit as we'd want him to be this year. It would be the right week to rest one of Cotch and Martin. And we've seen him miss time with "soreness" as well. He isn't match-fit. But after coming off two(?) knees, fair enough.

Don't stress about him. He's having an off year, sure, but that can easily be blamed on a) injuries, b) a new role, club and gameplan and c) being treated as a whipping boy.

Or you can look at in as two Richmond players, irrespective of draft positions or salaries, are doing their very best for the TEAM and that TEAM is currently sitting in the top four.

So, we are going to pay Dusty a minimum $1.1m a year and expect him to have no greater output than Connor Menadue??
BTW all clubs ex[pect their first round pick to be a star or close to it, not a best 22 player.

Easy for a bloke to run around in circles. Distance is meaningless we could get s marathon runner to do that. Is he tackling is he chasing is he contesting is he kicking and hanpsssing to effect. Dion is the biggest con we have had in 8 years

Yep, we do have to win our games. If we fall one short, it may mean either an EF or a QF against Adelaide in AO.

**** me dead I was there that night. Don't remind me. What a disaster.
Yep me too. Only time I've gone to a regular season game in shorts, tshirt and thongs. And it was a night game!

That's where the good times ended. At least until after the game. :-)

Biggest in 8 years? Not even close

The biggest con in 8 years? Nah. I'd say he is already one of our better acquisitions in that time if you compare his output to other players that have come to Richmond in the last 8 years whether through draft or recruiting from the opposition. This while he hasn't even been here for a whole season yet.
