5th for tackles(4th excluding Nankervis)
5th for I50
6th for goal assists
5th for contested possessions (4th excluding Nankervis)

Changed gameplan has helped no doubt, but fail to see how removing Vickery and adding the small forwards has impacted the difference in roles for those I mentioned.

replacing Vickery with small defensive forwards means that the ball isn't exiting the forward line with as much ease .
This therefore means that our midfielders have more confidence in getting off their man to attack and take the game on.

Hahaha you're taking the piss. Cmon Einstein explain how he's done these well at 52% with 19 touches? It doesn't matter how much he's run as he has been unaccountable and his opponents cgaf about him as he has no hurt factor . Now if you've been actually watching him play you would be aware of this and not needed to delve into the stats sheet to find such a useless stat which only the dumbest of commentators dare to quote.
I see his 16km of unaccountable running has exposed his major weakness.

The bloke covered the most distance, averaged the quickest overall speed, was quickest in defensive running and second quickest in attacking running on average as well. You don't get that by running around in circles.

Well watch him exclusively in the first half last week against GWS to see how that is achieved without hardly touching the ball and being of little to no use for 50 minutes. I hope that half of football was an anomaly because it was truly cringeful and his being dropped or rested (call it what you will) indicates something is wrong. It was eye opening.

The team hardly touched the ball in the first quarter. We, collectively, were smashed and lucky not to be 8 goals down.

Like I said the change in game plan has helped, but having improved midfield depth has also helped. Last year we had Brandon and Grigg playing more inside roles and both were roundly criticised for their 'poor' performances. With Prestia and Caddy to a lesser extent moving into those roles we're able to free them and others up more. It also means being able to use Cotchin and Martin up forward more as well.

The thing is when you're not getting hands on the footy you can still impact the game by running hard to ensure that you're in position defensively, that is being accountable and something the Giants players were hammered about when we got on top. It was also why we were hammered against the Saints.

You are telling us that stats are irrelevant yet you quote one weeks % in the pouring rain where nobody got a stat in the first quarter anyway. At least the inside 50/rebounding 50's stats are over the season. Agree that he has been largely disappointing, particularly his kicking, but he not the spud you make him out to be.

I actually don't think he has gone backwards .
I think his stats and perceived form at GC were inflated.
I recently had a chat with a person who has experience within a premiership winning club and more recently spending time within Gold Coast , about the club ,their players stats and perceived ability.
He suggested the form of players within the franchises is unlikely to translate to any other club or win them a premiership.
This is primarily due to the franchise clubs having ridiculous talent and pace, yet terrible accountability.
As a result their game plans , in particular stoppage work was completely different to any other club.
It means injuries , playing varying weather conditions or when playing against opposition who can match their outside pace, expose their skills and ability to win contested footy.

That's a really interesting take and has merit. The only objections I have, is how do stats get inflated? They are what they are, ie 30 possessions is 30 possessions and Dion is actually one of the better defensive minded mids we have, tackles, 2 way running and pressure acts.
