True but not every player is on the coin he is on.
Yeah I don't get that, shouldn't come into it especially when considering if he plays this week or not.

At the time of the contract signing he deserved a long term, well paid contract and stayed for a lot less than he could have got at other clubs (Richmond and Carlton).

He's past his prime now, I think the effort is still there (most weeks, once again like the rest of the team) just his body and the way the game is played now have passed him by.

I'll never be angry with Clokey, he's tried his guts out for this club and was a huge part of our 2010 flag, We don't win that without him.

But it's time for him to go, for his sake and ours.

How many games do we play there? Surely that is a joke?

2 games......but like SCG is a "tighter" ground and apparently doesn't suit Cloke.

Yeah right, it has taken how long to figure that out?
Something doesn't sound right to me.
If he goes, I really wish him well which is something I normally haven't with the likes of Beams and Thomas.

Yeah I thought it was a weird comment also.......look I have reconciled the fact that Cloke is leaving.

But the part I don't get is why Bucks backed him to the hilt last year but has treated him like a leper this year.

I will wish him we also Maggie5.

Last year we only had White , Gault , an injured reid and a raw Moore. What else could we do then back Cloke. And even this year, Cloke as KPF was the starting position. On song he is very very good.
What has changed is Moore hitting his straps, the rise of Cox and with injuries of key personnel, more was demanded from senior players.
Add to that lately the success with a gameplan that actually works better for the team without Cloke. Even White looks good (!). I have yet to see whether Cox would fit in the team for an Etihad game.
What I don’t understand is that for some time the mantra has been to become less dependent on Cloke, gorilla forwards are in decline across the league yet still somehow the club destroyed his career.

Sorry if it comes across like I believe that the Club destroyed his career..........I don't believe that.

What I do know (as fact) is he was dropped earlier in the year so that he would struggle to achieve the triggers.

For me I just keep going back to the GWS game and that is what I think Cloke brings to the team.......I agree this year he has been below average but I still don't subscribe to the theory that the game has moved on from the gorilla forwards.

Let's come back to this thread after the GF this year because the team that wins it this year MUST have at least one BIG forward.

l think they thought cloke form would rebound and every one thought the same and that's why they backed him
to the hilt. l saw and still don't see that being wrong, just this year it did not rebound and even got worse so l don't see him as treated
as a leaper but may be sitting a standard that he and others have to do and if you fail you get dropped

Dropping for the triggers still sounds very spiteful and disappointing tbh. Still his own undoing, he gave them reason to.
The game hasn't moved on from gorilla fwds but their influence ( especially Cloke's ) diminished by AFL umpiring that doesn't like a wrestle contest and better defenses that almost always have a 2 on 1.
GWS should be the benchmark, not the exception. But how many times has he scaled those heights that he posed a genuine threat if the ball came even near him. Melbourne game last year he kicked 7 I seem to remember was the last one before that( feel free to correct ).

Let's be honest PicaBoo, Cloke is a good forward and I am happy with that fact.........you and many others think he should be better that I don't. I also don't agree that he should have held us to ransom in 2012 but unfortunately that is the Collingwood way.

I hope they have a good substitute in mind because Gorilla forwards don't grow on trees (no pun intended).
White is not the answer to protect Moore until his body is physically ready like Cloke's was at the age of 20 when he won the Copeland.

If he doesnt suit ethihad i wouldn't recommend playing for the dogs...
It doesn't suit our game at Etihad. The doggies with their slingshot style could perhaps be suited for a reasonable mobile fwd who can win the 1on1's

Can someone remind me what the terms of Clokey's current contract supposedly are please?
Set figure for years 1 to 4 (rumoured to be $750k)
Year 5 based on performance in year 4 (this year). He had to meet a set performance criteria, which from all accounts he has failed to reach.
Depending on who you listen to, Year 5 is going to be either $400k or $500k

Thanks BJ, saved me searching old threads.
Just wanted context around Hurley's contract.

Except you can't compare the two. Hurley's contract will include years of the new EBA, which will be significantly higher than the last EBA.

Figjams mentality I guess? Not a good man manager from the looks. He has been treated despicably

Let's be honest though. He was never going to achieve his triggers. Not on the form he has displayed over the course of 3 years

Just for those who don't understand yet that the game has passed the loveable big lug have a look at Jessie White's recovery after he flies for a mark and understand why we need to thank Trav for 2010 and get what we can for him.

Wow. Don't listen to the grub hutchy, just look at that glove

Don't watch the show but I was flicking channels and stopped to watch. The funniest thing I noticed that to further prove their point they show 3 marks that Cloke took. One was a chest mark and the glove was nowhere near the ball, one wasn't a clean mark as his arms were chopped and the ball spilled free (didn't stick) and the other may have been contributed to the glove. They are seriously a joke and Hutchy being the biggest one of all.

And of course we are to assume that it was the exact glove because they said so.

You think the club would put out a statement of sorts if it's not the same glove? Like that's a big claim and I can see it exploding this week.
