I ordered a movie from Quickflix that comes with both 2D and 3D options but of course they don't include the glasses to watch in 3D:rolleyes:

My questions are do I need specific 3D glasses when it's on DVD compared to the ones you'd normally wear at the movies and where's the best place to get them?

Edit: Just read that I need the green/magenta glasses. I don't suppose anyone has a pair lying around?

Re: choosing the right 3D glasses for 3D DVDs

Hi, this PDF file will help you to choose the right 3D glasses for the 3D DVD you want to watch. It lists most of the 3D DVDs available and the glasses you'll need to watch them.
http://www.oz3d.com.au/downloads/3D_Movie_List_Anaglyph_Format.pdf

The two types of 3D glasses that will cover nearly all of the 3D movies you will watch at home are Red / Cyan and Green / Magenta.

Red / Cyan 3D glasses like these or plastic 3D glasses like these have been around forever, but the green / magenta format are relatively new, but are becoming quite popular.

The most important thing you need to remember when choosing 3D glasses is that you must choose the right format for the 3D DVD / 3D movie you are watching. It's not good using a pair of Red/Cyan 3D glasses to watch a 3D DVD that has bee released in a Green/Magenta anaglyph format.

Cheers

REALD 3D glasses are not for use at home. They won't work unless you have a $13,000 JVC 46" 3D LCD TV, and supported media player and some 3D media to play.

HaHa.

3D TVs for the home that use circular polarised 3D glasses, (like the REALD glasses) are coming; you just need to wait for about 3 - 5 years before you would consider purchasing one.

Like all good things the technology will get cheaper as time goes on.

Soon you will be able to watch movies and some broardcast TV in 3D, utilising the same technology as REALD. EG:- Circular polarization.

The potential is limitless.

I remember a few years ago I got some 3D glasses when I hired some movie. Not sure where they are now, they worked perfectly on the tv though.
