4th plane shot down?

Does anybody else think that the 4th plane was 'taken out' by the US defence? It seems strange to me that the first 3 crashed into major buildings yet the fourth mysteriously crashed into bush somewhere in Pittsburg. From the look of the direction of the plane, it had nearly done a 180, and was heading pretty much straight for Washington. It would be a terrible decision to make, but destroying it was probably the only option.

The plane was heading for Washington. Washington air space was declared a no fly zone and F15's were sent up to ensure that. In a no fly situation any aircraft in violation is given two warnings then shot down.
I don't know if this occurred but it is probable.

We know that two of the planes had all passengers and crew pushed to the back of the plane including the pilots. It is therefore concludable that all four planes had trained pilots amongst the hijackers.

Also, putting yourselves in the minds of these evil people, they would have expected the real pilots to have swerved at the last moment to avoid the towers so they had to be in control themselves to ensure the damage was done.

I agree with frodo, the hijackers would have been flying the planes because there is no way an American pilot would take out the world trade centres, they would have made sure they crashed either in the ocean or in a less populated area, the hijackers would have known that, which is why they made everyone go to the back of the planes.

I would say the 4th one was shot down to stop it reaching it's destination, thus saving possibly thousands of life, while unfortunately sacrificing the people on the plane.

the guy that is alleged to be responsible for this.......(i cant spell his name) had trained pilots on his team, so it is probable that they went aboard the planes as well.

as for the 4th plane. it is alleged that the 4th plane was headed for Camp David (where the president of the usa goes sometimes) but it has also been said that the pilots didnt want to risk more lives and with a knife to his head by the terrorists he took the plane down.

all speculation though.

I just heard on the radio coming home, that the hijackers killed some of the flight crew to lure the pilots out of the cockpit, maybe the pilot of the 4th plane didn't give in & maybe he did know what had happened to the other planes so decided to crash it.

I'm sure that if the plane was taken out by a F15 there wll be no announcement for some time. There is enough to think about already. It may also be that it is never released. Telling people that their relatives were killed by their own air force would not be easy.

THe hijackers only apparently had knives and could certainly be tackled or something like that?

The thing that i find interesting is that there hasn't even been the slightest hint by the American media that it could have been shot down by the US defence. This suggests to me that they suspect it was shot down, but in this hour when they need to pull together as a nation they are playing dumb for the good of the country. I don't think the American people would condemn the decision because there was really no other option considering the damage the other 3 planes did.

it lloks like the brave people on that 4th plane took the matter in their own hands after a few phone calls to loved ones from their mobiles they were told of what had happened earlier in nwe york and washington.i guess knew their fate and took on the hyjackers knowing to well they were going to crash[id say the pilots were killed].all i can say is god bless to those people in the 4th plane while sacraficing their own lives to save 100,s or 1000,s fellow americans.indeed the united states owe these poeple a hell of a lot of at the very least gratitude for their actions

Hi all, was talking to one of my friends who is a pilot, they are trained in hostage situations. If a hijacker is holding a gun to your head and tells you to hit a building or land on a field where thousands of people are (etc.), you choose your death over possibly thousands of others. Now whether you could seriously go through with that is a different matter. Though, if you weighed up the situation, you can have a thousand deaths on your hands, or be killed and hope that the hijackers screw up. And you're going to die either way/

I'd say the pilots were killed instantly, since there was not one hijacking button (yes, there's a special little button for that) hit. Although I did hear that the pilot was the one who crashed the fourth plane. $10 says we never know.

I just read on the ABC that the passengers on the 4th aircraft knew that other planes had been used to attack the WTC and Pentagon. They heard info details thru telephone conversations.

The passengers then fought the terrorists to try and regain control of the aircraft. The passengers were well aware that they would probably not survive and basically said as much to their rellies over the phone.

I hope they kicked the living shi t out of the terrorists before the aircraft crashed. Those passengers must have been pretty gutsy.

Fact or conjecture? I knew they called their loved ones and told them they were probably going to die, but did anybody mention on a plan to thwart the terrorists efforts?

Those people were absolute heroes. What a contrast to the cowards who killed them.
