Does anyone know if the property is still a working sheep station? I haven’t seen any sheep in the media footage. From the sounds of the isolation situation, maybe not.

According to this article on 2 October,
Superintendent Syrus said, “They (the family) don’t get many visitors up here. It is very tough for them because they like the isolation and over the last six days, they’ve had every day over a 100 people in the area being a part of their lives.”

Probably all died in the drought.

People would get a bit detached & socially awkward out there I imagine, it might explain why none of the family have spoken on camera (unless I've missed it?). The Youtube 'detectives' are calling that a red flag.

All media reports have said sheep station not necessarily working sheep station. I’ve only read in the daily mail that Grandma Shannon’s Father ran the station until 2010 before he died.
In saying that I take the article to mean they’re just not used to having all those people there. 100 people at your place everyday would be overwhelming for anyone imo.

It’s definitely gone very quiet since they scaled it back. I’d be interested to know if anyone is still actively searching the property for him.
Yes it's gone very quiet, just rehash of earlier media. Some reasons for this could be (a) to stop AI misinformation , (b) they are on a promising lead and don't want to alert their targets, (c) to avoid wasting resources on false leads, (d) they collecting information for an arrest, (e) they believe the child is still alive and don't want to create more danger prior to rescue, (d) busy working through background checks and alibi's and digital analysis. Probably many more as well.

I don’t know if they are actively running sheep, but if they are you wouldn’t necessarily see them in any footage regardless.
Anyone in this area who isn’t a complete cowboy (willing to risk their pastoral lease) will be stocked fairly lightly at the moment. The owner will know how many they’d expect to find in each paddock but you’re not sighting them one by one on a weekly basis, just checking the “mob” in general is where it’s meant to be & that the boundaries are in tact and no other signs of trouble. Unless containment feeding most of your time is going to be spent checking waters across the property (these days most run on a combination of dams and bores, & the associated windmills, solar or (rarely) diesel/petrol pumps, plus pipelines, tanks and troughs. Lots of moving parts and plenty of potential for frequent f ups).
The bigger jobs are seasonal and labour is expensive so most places won’t have full time/live in staff if they’re only running a few thousand head.
Generally you’ll employ a shed hand or contractors for the more labour intensive animal husbandry tasks like mustering, lamb marking, shearing, crutching etc but depending on how hard you’re doing it financially or how willing, skilled and able one is to do all of the above, families running only a couple thousand head will often just do it themselves.
Many properties have completely gotten out of wool growing too, so if you’re only running self shedding sheep like dorpers you cut a lot of that additional work out as well.

There doesn't seem to be an excuse for this. People can be horrible.

Fake images of Gus Lamont, who went missing in remote South Australia last month, have been used to spread misinformation about his fate online.
An image appearing to show Gus, 4, being bundled into a car by an “unfamiliar man” has been shared thousands of times on social media.
“An eyewitness reports seeing a boy matching Gus Lamont’s description with an unfamiliar man in a car about 100km from Yunta,” the caption of one post, shared 24,000 times, reads.
The problem is, the picture was generated by artificial intelligence (AI).

AI is incredibly dangerous. In this image l see a perpetrator with three hands, or an abnormal forearm with frog fingers.

The property is about 60 sqkm, and the family run 3000 head of sheep.

Unfortunately, this type of conduct is generally not illegal unless it is
- sexually explicit or
- used to harrass, stalk or intimidate or
- used to obtain commercial advantage by deception.

Social media sites (including BF) could enforce some type of local protection by banning AI images unless they are labelled as such.

I would like to see some type of legislation which bans distribution of certain images if deemed to be "generally offensive to any reasonable person", for example. Pretty hard to enact though.

So would need some help from time to time, Iwonder if any employed casual or contracted help consistently worked on the station for the family or if they were "blow-ins" .

Unless it was taken far away?
Don't know what to think really. There is no firm evidence either way that Gus is dead or alive. Just missing. I couldn't even write a series of alegbra equations to try and find X (Gus) because of no firm constant information to include in the calculation.

The fact that he went missing closer to nightfall might indicate that more travel time (supplied by night cover) was needed to take him far away.

The last confirmed sighting could be minimised, as the responsible adults in charge might be inclined to do especially if they're not real sure.

I think the police might be looking for some kind of corroboration or independently confirmed sighting of Gus not just the reliance on the grandma's account, as a matter of being thorough and not necessarily because they think she might be involved in anything awful.

A property like that isn't an island. As well as regular workers, there would be people coming and going for various maintenance tasks (routine or ad hoc) associated with the station operations. There might be regular deliveries of food and supplies.

I think it’s interesting that the family friend made a statement to media about Gus not being taken because of the six gates to get there but what about being taken from the property?
I know this wasn’t the family who said this but they would have communicated with the family before speaking imo.
If there were other people on the property especially if they left the property around this time, surely they’d be under suspicion from the start unless really trusted by the family.

Was the family friend actually saying people from the entrance to the property, have to get out and open and close six gates to get to the homestead?

“Police and Australian Defence Force (ADF) members will return to Oak Park Station but will concentrate on an area outside of a zone already searched by authorities following the boy’s disappearance on September 27.”

So searching an area they haven’t looked at, wonder if this is based off the drone information?

Sounds like a Hail Mary

I’d imagine there would be extreme downward pressure on sapol from state and federal office
