2990 of them are found almost straight away. No need for public appearances.
95% are found within a week, some would be found straight away, some will take longer.

So is it fair to wait at least a week before making any socially expected public statements/pleas etc or can different people grieve in different ways? Not everyone likes an audience in their personal matters.

Taking 7 months to anonymously reach out to the public like William Tyrrell’s foster parents has proven that doesn’t work. So yeah, who would copy that example?

I dont know about you people, but if that was my child/Grandchild and I was certain they'd wandered off and would be located on or around my property, I'd be begging anyone who would listen, to come out and help search for them to bring them back to me rather than leave them lying out there somewhere alone.

Me too. And if I was the parent, and my child had wandered off and was not found… I would not be leaving that property knowing my son was deceased out there somewhere.

I wouldn’t want to leave them.

I would stay at Oak Park. If I was the parent of Gus. And I would be continuing to search for my son.

IMO

Yep we all would but there is no evidence of him being there. Would love to see how his room has been left, clothes in laundry basket, water bottles washed, toys in the living room etc

We still don’t have a time line of his known last citing by a third party

Do police want just anyone searching the property at this stage?

No IMO. They should have learned their lessons after allowing the public all over Benaroon Drive when William Tyrrell went missing. It was a huge mistake.

Agreed, to the outside World there isnt, but if I were confident that the version of events I put forward was true, the evidence, his remains, has to be out there somewhere and I'd leave no stone unturned to find him.

I'd invite every grey nomad, camper, trailbike rider, 4wder, diver, bushwalker, anyone, to help.

At least there have been some learnings.

And the family not talking to the media may be also a police strategy, again, learning from the Tyrrell case, perhaps.

IMO

Of course you would , unless you knew he is not there and hasn’t been for some time

Stuff the Police, its Family, a 4yo child.
Id like to see them stop me if I honestly believed he was out there.

If theres no tracks leading away, and lets be honest, by now if there was they'd be long gone, what is there to lose?

He was believed abducted from a residential environment, this is a barely habitated bush setting where the child has supposedly wandered off.

Whats 'fair' or reasonable is up to the individual. The question was how common is it that there is no public appeal from or on behalf of a parent in the case of a missing child. Are you able to name one single case in Australia where the child was still missing after a week, let alone a month and no public appeal or even appearance from a parent?. I can't.

Kendall is rural and the property he vanished from is surrounded by forest.

I'm sure, even though it would take a lot of coordination and imo would be pretty dangerous, if the police felt the public could help, they'd call out.

Police still publicly pursued the 'wandered off' theory in the Tyrrell case for days before abduction was even mentioned. We still don't know for sure that William was abducted.

I feel like inter-agency cooperation in Australia is a lot better these days than it was in 2014 when William went missing, so I doubt there would be any real need for civilian volunteers in Gus’ case, when LE have specially trained SES, army, police etc. at their disposal.

They seem to have the manpower to get it done - it’s just that, well, I guess Gus wasn’t there.

IMO

Kendall has a population of 890 and the house had neighbours within spitting distance.
Oak Park station, population 5.

Please.

The Police would have no say.

Fair enough.
I’m still waiting to hear for certain that there wasn’t anyone else at/staying at that property.

No we dont, nor do we in this case, but I wouldnt be waiting months to find out, especially if I believed my story.
If he's out there, theres only one way to find out, look.

I doubt the Police are looking for signs of an abduction at the bottom of a drained dam.

I wouldn't allow any random from the public on to my station, potentially getting themselves lost, running out of water and/or fuel, passing out of dehydration, having heart attacks and ploughing through the dirt with their tyres also potentially destroying evidence.

The military have been right over the station taking imagery, if he's there I think they'll find him.

I wonder why they are taking so long after announcing it, to return to do a fourth search? Watching?
