Hey Guys

I got a 5.1 surround sound system with a JVC Amp that I have had for about 6-7 years. It was all good until a year ago until I rearranged my room.:(

Now every time I turn on 5.1 channel it makes a static noise, the one you get when you can't find a TV channel.

If I turn it over to 2 Chanel Stereo it works fine. Funnily enough, if I leave it on 2 channel for a couple of hours then switch it to 5.1 then it also works fine.

I have tried unplugging all the speaker and re plugin them back in multiple times and have also taken a speaker out as well but it doesn't change a thing.

Could it be the amp is on it's way out?

Sounds like the Amp is on it's way out.

I have a Yamaha Amp which when it wanted came up with the display "Check Speaker Wires" and cut out sometimes and had static, even halfway through a movie and having been on all day working fine and it did it randomly and it gradually got more frequent before i took it in and the Power supply was stuffed which needed replacing. This was covered under warranty as it was extended to 5yrs when i bought it and the Amp is still going strong 8 years on but need to replace it soon to upgrade to a HDMI model.

Thanks Chism. I conned my mate into bringing around his amp so I will see if it makes a difference. I just bought a 55 Inch plasma so I guess a HDMI Amp is going to keep calling me to I cave in:eek:
