gutted. almost a miracle win, which made the loss harder to swallow. terrific crowd of 19,000.

did u go tutaki?

Heya what a game!! The most hated team in the NRL lost so i was happy (not that i hate them, Eels are my team i love to hate)!!!! THe crowd was terrific!! Whats the capacity of Penrith?? Not to many more would of fit in their yesterday! And considering Manly supporters dont travel, well done Panthers supporters!!!!

Nicko- I didn't go, I was in Jindabyne for the weekend but I was getting updates from by cousin who went. An awesome game apparently and I can't wait for the Saints next week. I'll be there with bells on.

not as bad as last year's round 26 though.....

i saw peter sharp in Newport about 1pm Sunday, so he was cutting it fine. i assume the coaches have a responsibility to watch the lower grades as well as prepare their own? it's a very long trip to penrith from here

Peter Sharp has an immense love of rugby league, he breathes it so I would imagine that it would have been highly neccessary to be in Newport when you saw him. He is very passionate about Manly and rugby league.

he does live in Newport, i worked out he was filling up with petrol (at 1pm) probably on his way to the game. allow 1.5 hours and he still makes it by 2:30, some 3 hours b4 the start. so maybe he just planned to rock up before the reserves and catch a bit of Jersey Flegg too?

I caught some highlights after the Storm game and the social club and plan to watch it later in the week......looked like one great night for the Panthers club.
I really do have a soft spot for the Panthers and have always liked their jerseys...now with Roarty and Whatiera???? ex Storm boys at the club, I make it a point to always watch their games.

The Panthers always pull in good crowds anyway, particularly if they are playing well.

What rubbish. Penrith park crowds ahave always been crapski.

I've been going to the footy there foir thirty years and it was one of the biggest croiwds I can remember. Who can forget the miserable crowds during superleague. In the eighties a crowd of over 5000 would keep club secretary Roger Cowan grinning for a week.

That said, it was a better result than 1974 when Greame Eadie ran amok and we lost 70 - 7. Bill Ashurst walked off the ground that afternoon in disgust - he was working at the old club in Station Street at the time and got suspended from work for a week. There was a young Penrith Prop called Tim Sheens in third grade, and the crowd was the quietest I can ever remember.

That wan ker Rex Mossop used to always give Penrith one TV match a year - against Manly!

The current capacity at Penrith would be in the vicinity of 25 000. There was still space on the southern hill.

As for Manly? Bludgers! Bludgers the lot of them.

Well you have obviously been following them a lot longer than I have. I am only going by what I have seen on pay=tv the last few years, as I only started following rugby league fervently since Storm came to Melb. though I did watch quite a lot of the games prior on Ch.9.

They always seem well supported crowd wise, and especially when they are winning.....which is the way with all teams, afl/nrl/union/soccer or whatever code you chose to name:)
