We defended a flag in a Grand Final.

Yep, It's been 75 years since this great football club has won a premiership then made the Grand Final the following year, and now this group of players has done it.

Yes, we want to win next week, and nothing more then a win will be seen of as a success, but still, to make history, to become the first Magpie team since 1936 to even have the chance to defend a flag, is something to behold.

So, to everyone at the club, and all of our supporters, I say congratulations, it's a monumental, historical achievement in itself.

Ahem hate to act the party pooper, but the last time we attempted to defend a premiership as you say by making the Grand Final the following year was in 1937 or 74 years ago.

Incidentally the team that rolled us in that Grand Final was.......... Geelong.

All good mate its still something worth revelling in IMO!

Also I don't believe history will repeat itself in regards to 1937. I think the coasters may just shock a few from down the highway today

don't worry about what happened 74 years ago.The truth is i like to look for omens too but omens are crap. I believe we can do it.If you think about it geelong beat collingwood by just 5 points in 2007 prelim and went on to smash port. Keep faith guys,no matter who is on the park i think we can do it
