Background

Coming across from Essendon, Crameri looks set to rejoin Brendan McCartney.
Crameri's close relationship with Bulldogs coach Brendan McCartney - who was an assistant at Essendon in 2011 – played a key role in the move.
"I have been extremely impressed with the Western Bulldogs from the moment we began discussions, and I am really excited about joining a club that has such an exciting future both on and off the field," Crameri said today.
“I can’t wait to start working with Brendan, the coaching group and of course my new teammates — to reach my full potential and play my role for the red, white and blue."

Welcome to the kennel Stew, ripper to see you in the red, white and blue!

according WOOF he will be given number 8, a number he wanted close to his Bendigo buddy Stringer's number 9.

ok thx.. Once the number has been assigned I will update it

I don't think he's slow at all, but to be fair… its Luke McPharlin…. not Stephen Hill

He's actually deceptively quick, and has great endurance when he decides to use it. Some of my fellow supporters are probably saying he is slow as he sometimes appeared to either not want to dig deep, or more likely, he was playing a lot of the year with leg ailments that would slow anyone down. Always liked Crammers, he's actually a bloody good athlete. Should serve you well if the injury niggles sty away.

And likewise, he's not going to be playing on guys like Stephen Hill. He's going to be playing on defenders that will struggle to keep up with him speed-wise.

Also, you have an awesome username :thumbsu: :D

All trade period i kept hearing from Essendon fans on these boards that he is slow. But he looked pretty quick in the Video posted last night in the sprint trial.
gee if you can show us actual quotes where anyone calls him slow they're wrong, only problem with Cram Dog is his accuracy and his sus calves/groins, he's super quick , great hands, well done dogs enjoy your key forward, we're pretty happy with Zach Merrett,,,,see you in the wash up..

I'll bet if he gets a ban it's a 6 month one and it's backdated. The players can plead ignorance, Hird and the staff won't come off anywhere near as well.

Not if they signed waivers they can't.

Will be 2 years not 6 months. No the players cannot please ignorance, strict liability applies to the athlete. No the ban is not backdated either you are getting confused with Saad who deliberately sat out after testing positive.

As I've said previously, you'd strongly suspect (and hope) that the Dogs did as much homework as possible in regards to a possible infraction notice for Crameri.

That is, I have difficulty believe they would have traded for anything for him and been so keen to get him to your club if it was thought that he was likely to be suspended.

Everyone been impressed with Crameri? He really adds to our forward line. He kind of like that "glue guy" that everyone else can play better with him being there.
He has 9 goals (leading our goal kicking) as is equal 10th in the AFL leading goal kickers at the moment (after round 4).
It appears that Jones and Crameri have already developed a good chemistry together. When Jones came into the side, Crameri improved, and Crameri is seen as our best forward, so Jones is getting off the leash.
9 goals over 4 rounds, well at that rate he will get 50 goals for the season. I would be happy with 40 from him. But if Jones is getting 2 goals a game, and gets 40 himself, when last year Jones can 24, he has made us a 60 goal a year improvement.

Crameri is really playing well for us, very happy with him so far. Things could change but at the moment I think he is playing his role very well. His speed and strength make him a very exciting player.

Anyone else's thoughts on how Crameri has played for us?

Enjoyed that segment on Rush Hour.
Sounds like a nice bloke, he didn't give much away at the East-West Day but had a laugh when we had a crack at Essendon.
I think we haven't seen yet just what he'll bring to the side when we're firing on all cylinders. He's a tough player to match up on and it looks like he's improved his kicking.

He does some great work up the ground too although his disposal is very hit and miss, makes some awful errors. But I'll take that every now and then for the huge positives he adds to the side, inside 50 and up the ground. I will probably cry if he gets suspended when/if ASADA hits (maybe in 2018) now that we've started to see what he offers.

I really think Crameri, and the rest of the forward line, will really gel together when Grant gets back. He provides that X factor, Crameri can play even further up the ground, Crameri and Grant can switch, and it'll be hell to match up on those 2.

Totally agree!
The interesting thing is other teams kept saying we needed a true Key forward, but Macca knew what we needed as did most bulldogs supporters. Macca mentioned Crameri would make the other forwards around him better and that has occurred.
Been saying it for a while, but when Grant joins our forward line, one of Jones, Grant or Crameri will have a good game. Crameri will generally get the best defender, but at times they could put best defender on Jones or Grant, and then Crameri will have a mismatch.

How things change quickly. I know its only round 5. But start of last year we thought we had no forward line players at all apart from gia and Dahl.
Since start of last year we have found Hunter and Crameri and to a lesser extent Stringer (as hasn't had a breakout game yet, but showed signs). Grant and Jones have showed they can play. Gone from no forward line, to a really hard to match up on forward line.

Forward line is looking stronger than our backline, but our backline is coming along quite well.

Looking at the forwards that switched clubs, you could argue that Crameri has been the best forward acquisition. Chapman is the better player, but might have 2 years at max left?

Crameri, hopefully has a good 7 years in him, minimum of 5.
Other Key Position players who changed clubs are Jesse White, Shaun Hampson, Luke Delayney, James Podisadly, Scott Gumbleton, Andrejs Everitt and Billy Longer. Not including Mcevoy as is a pure ruckman were as Longer and Hampson play up forward and ruck.

Crameri definitely looks the better player. Jesse White has shown a bit, but I would say Crameri has shown more.

I know its been posted in the Western Bulldogs Facebook Page.
But more appreciation for Crameri needed.
Equal 3rd in the Coleman Medal with 13 Goals after round 5.

Jay Shultz, 17 Goals (Equal 1st)
Nick Reiwoldt, 17 Goals (Equal 1st)
Tom Hawkins, 15 Goals (Equal 2nd
Luke Breust, 15 Goals (Equal 2nd)
Stewart Crameri, 13 Goals (Equal 3rd)
Jack Gunston, 13 Goals (Equal 3rd)
Jamie Elliot, 13 Goals (Equal 3rd)
Jaryd Roughead, 12 Goals (Equal 4th)
Matthew Pavlich, 12 Goals (Equal 4th)
Jack Reiwoldt, 12 Goals (Equal 4th)

Who would of thought after 5 rounds that Crameri would be equal 3rd in Goal kicking award when we got him, and ahead of such gun forwards in Roughead, Pavlich and Jack Reiwoldt.
Crameri is in some fine form.
