COACHES THOUGHTS:

Obviously before we set out this season, or aim was finals. The season was a difficult one for us, as we just couldn't get our best 22 players on the park at the same time. We just seemed to consistently get injuries to our core players who would be out for several weeks. We are still trying to generate some AFL quality depth in every position so the injuries certainly didn't help, but for the most part, we lost a few matches we should have won against lower positioned sides, and if we are going to transition into a genuine premiership contender, we need to win those games.

There were several positives from this season though. Big Ty (Vickery) had an absolutely outstanding season, kicking over 80 goals. This is a terrific achievement considering he player a few games as the most senior forward, whilst Jack (Riewoldt) was out injured. He took the responsibility to stand up and provide a target and did an amazing job. Our younger brigade, particularly our first and second year midfielders in Corey Ellis, Connor Menadue, Daniel Rioli, Nathan Drummond and Daniel Rioli were all fantastic. We knew they had talent, but they surprised me this year with how well they handed AFL football, and for the most part, outperformed more seasoned players. Corey and Connor in particular showed they have the potential to be elite AFL midfielders

With the season over, we've now got to turn our attentions to trade week and the draft.
