A little help with Footy Website!

I have volunteered to look after our local junior footy club's website at www.sunburyfc.com.au

What I want to acheive is an automated result submission and publishing thingy. So far I have managed to design a form that gets emailed to me, but I would like the submission to get onto the website automatically.

I don't have any database experience so I am floundering here a bit.

Does anyone have any useful suggestions.

What you do is gather up the data in the form submitted through

$variablename=$_REQUEST["fieldname"];

. You then take this data and update the database through a SQL query like "update tablename set $columnname=$variablename where id=$recordid".

What I strongly suggest you do though is take the time to do a tutorial on SQL. Do a google on "SQL tutorial" and take your pick. Failing that, hassle Groves on his new website, I'm sure he'll be grateful for the traffic.

thanks for the reply, it all sounds like double dutch to me though. I may need to ask Groves or even DesRedandWhite for help.
