Ok guys, I know it's been a tough year to support the pies but the youth coming through has been exciting. The likes of Poulter, McCreery, Murphy, Bianco have been good to see as well as Kelly, Macrae, Rantall etc.

Opening the floor to discuss our best 22 in 2025..

FF O.Henry D.Cameron B.McCreery
HF R.McInnes Callow??/L.McMahon F.Macrae
C J.Noble J.de Goey C.Poulter
HB B.Maynard D.Moore I.Quaynor
FB J.Crisp M.Keane N.Murphy
Foll B.Grundy N.Daicos J.Daicos
Int W.Kelly T.Brown J.Rantall T.Wilson

Players I don't think will make it: Sier, Ruscoe, C. Brown, Lynch
I know there are gonna be trades, delistings etc. but the core group of players will remain. When will we be competing again?

I would be genuinely shocked if Wilson makes it at all. I would also be sorely disappointed if Macrae isn't a full time midfielder in 4 years time. Would also be surprised if Tyler Brown makes it - think Chugg will be better than him long-term.

Further, I think we'd probably go Callow / McMahon / McInnes with no Cameron. McMahon played some ruck as a junior because of his leap, and would rather we went that way than a 30 year-old Darcy Cameron

My fortune teller told me 2030.
Cost me 20 bucks.

If you wanna do it fine but these really are pointless. If you'd done this just last season there would be no Macrae, McCreery, Poulter or Henry in anyone's team which is a good example of how pointless it is not knowing who we are gonna be taking in the draft especially year 1 of a rebuild where we are gonna see hopefully a lot of turnover and younger players drafted

We we know we are getting Nick Daicos and Maybe Dib in the Next National Draft

I’d be surprised if anyone on that bench makes it, Keane being a regular fullback and Henry makes it. Crisp is still in the backline and would hope Noble gets pushed out by then and that Poulter would transition inside. Mihocek will be 32 so could still be playing if if he’s overtaken up forward could be switched down back and Taylor Adams would still likely be in the side.

You have left out Bianco who to me made the best debut of the 2019/20 draftees but that’s fine

My real view is that if all of

McInnes
Poulter
McRae
McCreery
McMahon
Rantall
Henry
Keane
Wilson

Are in our best 22 by 2025 we will be on the bottom with a highly untalented best 22. The chances of all 6 draftees from 2020 making it is remote. If they all turned into clear best 22 players down the track it would either be the greatest drafting effort of all time or we had performed so badly in subsequent drafts, where we presumably had good picks, so as to make a complete hash of our 22

Hopefully we get a whole lot of higher end talent into the club by 25, at the moment our youth is among to poorer groups in the comp.

I love having a crack at a list in 4yrs time. Any thoughts who the president and the coach might be? 🙈🙉🙊

There's a great quote around somewhere along the lines of things are never as bad as they seem, and things are never as good as they seem. it's not as bad as we think this year.

Yep this is a bad year on field. but we've got a look at the likes of henry mccrae ruscoe bianco mcreery rantall poulter wilson kelly. Of those we've seen, poulter and mcreery are clearly going to be very, very good players. kelly will tkae longer as KPP but will be palyer. bianco might be the best of the lot, been on this kid for a while, can find it and use it and is going to be a midfield star. Keane is going to be a player. I suspect wilson is also going to be a player. pretty confident on all of mccrae ruscoe and rantall as well. and we are yet to see mcinnes or chugg, both of whom will make it. in a nutshell, we appear to have drafted well without having any elite picks. and we will add the best player in the 2021 draft in november to the list. we've got more games into quaynor cameron noble murphy t brown sier who are all going to be part of the next push

someone above said look ahead to 2025, why look that far. Come the start of 2023, most of the players listed above will have 25+ games to their name and will be starting to really come on. we will have 3 stars in moore de goey grundy in their absolute prime. adams will be leading from the front in the midfield, and crisp will only be 30. josh daicos will be one of the comp's premier midfielders. seems to be a lot writing sier off too - despite feeling like he has been around forever, he is only 23 and has played 27 games of afl footy. He is going to be a very, very good player in 20-odd games time. and who is prepared to bet against both of pendles and sidey still being around in 2023? they have had remarkably few injuries of any consequence, and can continue to play different roles over the next few years. Pendles in particular has shaun burgoyne/craig bradley written all over him. even jamie elliott will be only 30 going into 2023, and given how much footy he has missed his body as not as battered as the average 30yo afl player

the spike will come quickly with this list. cop the pain this year, ride the wave next year, and then watch the spike from the start of 2023

Can you redo this using the conventional way of selecting sides, starting from the back line please. I find this confusing and very lazy to read it.

Thanks LS.

Pretty confident on all of McCrae, Ruscoe and Rantall.

Why?

Can someone go back and do their “best 2021” side based on the information (list) available in 2017?

Just had a quick look at that 2017 list... how the F did it get so close in 2018...??!?!

Couldn't agree more, you see a big difference in those top 10-12 picks in quality, Quaynor and Stephenson immediately looked like something. Nobody, not even Bianco has showed the 'wow' which makes us think they are certain 200 game players.

I would suggest we would be rapt if two of the six, "make it".

You lost me in the 2nd paragraph when you named 3 people who you said 'will be players' when there is a good chance that none of them 'will be players'. Then you named 2 players we have not seen and said that 'they will make it. Next it was 'Josh Daicos is going to be one of the comp's premier midfielders' when he actually seems to be struggling to get more than a handful of possessions in the middle now. Then you posed the question 'who is prepared to bet against both of pendles and sidey still being around in 2023?' Well, I am prepared to bet that neither will be playing in 2 years time. Seriously, the only player I thought you were right about is Sier.
