I wrote this to a mate on FB and as I was writing it it made more and more sense. The pattern is chillingly similar.

I’m removing all expectation for the next 16 years



‘The pattern of shizen fits;

Premierships to start a decade - 1980 (Richmond) 2000 (Essendon)

Runners-up with same core of that team - 1982 (R) 2001 (E)

A sudden dip into mediocrity leads to club legend hauled in as coach with no experience - Bartlett (R) Hird (E)

Both coaches leave acrimoniously and are estranged from their club

Over a decade in the finals wilderness - 13 years (R) 17 years (E)

Hopes pinned on an exciting key forward father/son once a generation player - Richo (R) Joe Dan (E) goes unfulfilled.

See what I mean...

I’m expecting a premiership in 2037 with our coach being the ex-Richmond premiership hard-nut Half Back, Nick Vlaustin, as coach.’
