How do casinos make money out of poker? I give the dealer $50 (as does the other 10 people at our table). Eventually that pot ($500) is going to go to someone. Is that right? Am I going crazy?

They take a "rake" ie a commission out of each pot.
I think at Crown it's approx 10% with a maximum, so out of your $500 the rake would be $50 to the casino.
Not that it's very well advertised, some tables also charge an hourly fee, $5 per hour at the $60 NL HE for example.
