Playing a sit n go tourny on vc, first two hands of the game I got AA, has happened to me a few times while playing, happened to anyone else?

Won pretty decent pots with them both as well, good start to the sit n go.

I once had AA two hands in a row playing PokerPro at Crown. 1st time I was BB and it folded to the SB who limped. We agreed to check it down, so I didn't raise and my hand stood up. Next hand I'm in the SB and EP raises, I 3-bet, he pushes, I call. He has KK, and yeah, I had AA. Other guy couldn't believe it.

The odds of getting AA are one in 221 (one in 17 chance for a pocket pair, 17 x 13 for that pair to be AA)

221 x 221 is how often you will get AA twice in a row.

However, I just downloaded FullTilt, and even though I am playing a lay money event, just to see how the system works, my first hand was AA...

That is true, though the odds of getting AA are less then the odds of 2-7 in general, irrelevant of suit...

You nearly caught me out there R+B

My head hurts...I'm gunna crash the plane now

EDIT: Flight just got cancelled so no work today, whoo hoo :)

Looks like im gunna pull up a chair (ok already done this), get up some poker tables, go grab my Brownes Ice Coffee drink, and start crunching some of these numbers. Throw them at me Ash :)

The odds of getting AA then AA is the same as getting 72o then 72o.

Not true. The odds of getting 72os are exactly half of the odds of you getting AA. By extension you are 4 times more likely to get 72os followed by 72os than getting AA followed by AA.

Detailed below:

Once you get dealt the first Ace, there are only three Aces that you can be dealt after that. So if your first card is an Ace, you are a 1 in 17 (or 3/51) chance of getting another one.

So you have a 4/52 chance of the first card being an Ace and a 3/51 chance of the second card being an Ace. 4/52 (1/13) X 3/51 (1/17) = 1/221

To get 72os, there are actually 8 cards that you can be dealt first (4 7's or 4 2's and then any one of 3 cards that you can get as your second card to make 72os (eg, say you get the 7s, you then need any one of the 2d, 2h, 2c or you can get 2h and then need any one of the 7c,7d,7s).

Therefore your odds of getting 72os are effectively 8/52 (2/13) X 3/51 (1/17) = 2/221 or 1/110.5

So AA and then AA is 48841/1

72os followed by 72os is 12210.25/1

Had that a couple of weeks ago. First one held up, second one got cracked :/

Also just the other day, I had AA, KK and AK suited on three consecutive hands. All three got cracked. I kid you not. I was not very happy - it burned away a nice profit I had just made from maniacs on Pacific.

The reason I was almost caught out was because I thought of it as any 7-2, not 7-2o. So after getting the ace, you have three aces left. My wrong assumption was that once you got the 7, you had four deuces to draw to. But to draw to 7-2o, you only have 3 deuces to draw too...

How often you get them is pretty irrelevant anyway, if you get AA wice in a row, play them right and get paid off, likewise keep folding your 72...

Dude, I did correct myself, as evidenced below:

I think I'm ******ed. It's too ****ing early to think.
