I hope we pick him up again in the Rookie Draft. I think he has a fair bit of talent and we shoul give him more time. What are your opinions.

Yes i agree. I made a thread a while back on the same issue, and from what ppl have said, he will definately be re-drafted onto the rookie list. Really hope so anyway, as he made significant headway last year at swans.

While I think we will re-rookie him, I am not sure about it being something we should do. Yes, he improved a little on his previous year, but how many rookies get taken after they have spent 3 years on a rookie list. I doubt there would be many, if any at all. I would personally like us to take a punt on someone else rather than recycle a player who has failed to make the grade after 2 years on our rookie list.

We promoted Zac Beeck after three years on the rookie list.

I think Edwards would be worth another year as the impression I got is that his attitude really improved in 2004 and another year might make a difference.

Rudeforth had a good attitude and it didn't help him.

The problem with Edwards is that he is 188cm. He will never make it as a CHB in the AFL and we have too many flankers with his dimensions already on the list. He hasn't the pace to stay with the quicker small forwards or to play in the midfield. Having said that he would probably be a better option than half of the young guys looking for a rooke position.

He'll never make it, let's cut our losses and try another rookie.

Welcome to the harsh world of AFL.

Agreed. Big guys like Beeck deserve a bit longer but chances are Edwards isn't going to improve anymore.

I hope they don't take him although I have no doubt they will. There are at least three other Clubs interested and don't be surprised to see him go in the PSD.

LOL, they are welcome to him. He couldn't even crack a game at West Perth and if he was playing for a stronger WAFL club he would have been dropped at least once this year as well - and even then he probably wasn't because the coaching staff would have agreed to certain conditions before he crossed over. Not only will he not make it but he has been a complete asshat off the field. When he isn't back I'm sure there will be dry eyes all round.

he has some pretty good attributes: explosive, silky, strong and aggresive and he has a very nice kick. anyone who saw him in last years practice match will know what i mean.

however, he is very inconsistant, has a fair temper and goes off the boil alot. and he is an awkward height for AFL.

we dragged the poor kid to the other side of the country to be on a rookie list and play in the less than exciting wafl competition. its hard enough for senior rookies who get drafted, but try getting paid a third of the basic wage of a first round pick and play wafl. it cant of been easy on the guy. he has the talent to justify one more year IMO.

Its a bit of a stretch to describe him as silky or strong but I agree he is flashy, very inconsistant and has a temper - not really the right ingredients to make it as an AFL footballer.

u really dont like him do ya coasting. I just thought he showed alot of improvement, both physically and mentally, last year at swans. Watched a number of games (prolly bout 8-10) n thought he did alot better than the year b4. But fair enough, we are all entitled to our opinions. I just hope im right.

Didn’t he injure his legs in the offseason? You would think with his career on the line he would take more care with things like that. I just don’t think he fits in to what they are trying to achieve down there, the type of players they are trying to mold a team around. People on the outside look at players like Edwards and don’t worry about their deficiencies because it’s not their problem. Putting him back on the rookie list is nothing more than a token gesture, a bit like Clancy Rudeforth really.

i think he has one of the best, most fluid kicking and running actions in our squad. seems to glide over the ground.
