Okeydoke7 writes on why Easty must abdicate the throne if the Royals are to progress.

It's time for Easty to abdicate the throne. After putting in a lot of hard work behind the scenes, he was successful in gaining admittance for the Gold City Royals for S16. They have been competitive on and off the field. But the drums are beating behind the mighty gates of Gold City. Though there are loyal subjects in this current regime, there is a growing hunger for revolution. A feeling that the Royals could be so much more.

Player unrest, talk of an upheaval and major philosophical differences will be the challenges facing the Royals over the course of the off-season. The unrest and the differences in style are easy to discuss. They have been in full view of the SFA public of late. Disharmony between posters, bitter feuds and a lack of faith in the leadership of the club has caused serious distress among some Royals players. There is an unquestionable divide forming amongst the SFA's newest team. The SFA needs to retain the new posters bought in by expansion for the competition to be viable in the long term. And despite Easty's huge success in the setup of the club and the administrative side of the captaincy role, he has failed to drive the culture of the club in their debut season.

The talk of upheaval is much more interesting. I have it on very good advice that several high profile players have recognised an issue with the Royals that is intensifying. There are whispers that high profile players are willing to back an almighty spill post-season to lead the Royals in the right direction. One of the league's biggest names is driving this possibility, and is seriously considering causing a spill post-season that would see him take over the captaincy of the fledging club.

This is not purely speculative. Serious talks have emerged between high profile outsiders, and some of the disenchanted posters within the Royals. Though the Royals attempt to gloss over the issues in public, there is a growing divide which is beginning to seep into the public forum. The upcoming upheaval seeks to transform this club by delivering on the potential that exists within it.

Abdication was once viewed as weak. It was expected that those in royal positions would hold them until death. But the times have changed. The last thing the Royals need is a throne tarnished by the reign of Easty. The Royals need progression. There will come a time, in the not too distant future, where Easty will be tested. To retain honour and valour, Easty must consider abdication. Choosing to stay and fight for his throne would only be in vain and to the detriment of those he leads. In modern times, Pope Benedict and Queen Beatrix are notable dignitaries to "pass on the baton." If the potential spill comes, the last thing the Royals need is a stubborn leader refusing to abdicate the throne. They need a leader that can read the signs and understand that the greater good of the club is at stake. If he is smart, he will see the light and abdicate. Move on from this phase of his fantasy footy life. And look back proudly and fondly on the club he created. If he is ignorant, Easty may find himself in a public battle that he cannot win. This is the first sign, Easty . Your reign may soon be over.

DISCUSSION - Who would you like to see captaining the Royals in S17?

Let's not jump the gun.

Without obviously having direct knowledge as to Easty's work with the rest of his players, as few would, he was earmarked as a rightful successor and captain for an eternity behind Ljp at the Dragons, who was arguably the best performed captain over the four seasons or so Easty was there for. He set up this team from scratch with relatively weak support in a retired Deddy, a slightly better Snappy! and little else, being forced to recruit. He's brought some of the leading EKA contenders in Dannnnnnnnnn and Igloo to the league as well as a strong cohort of others and largely running solo. He's also by far the most experienced candidate capable of holding the captaincy at the Royals and from an outside perspective, it seems to be holding him in good stead.

Where that could fall apart and not make him the best possible option, I don't know.

You seem to have misread the question. I didn't ask who the best candidate at the Royals was.

And i'm not jumping the gun, believe me. Just because you don't see something, doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

No, just answered the question through answering what you put forward. Quoting long things makes shit tedious. :D

I never argued that there's no group of Royals conspiring to overthrow Easty...I wouldn't know if it's true or false. What I do know is that Easty's track record is the best at the club and I'm happy to run with that. :thumbsu:

What a great quote, it's like dejavu in this thread with Easty being the creationist and okey the evolutionist.

It is worth noting that I never suggested a group of Royals were actually going to be the ones to overthrow Easty.

Think outside the box a little, Eth.

Come on Eth there was so much more to the club than JUST Deddy Easty and Hawk Patrol running around looking for potential signings.

Well argued as always. EKA medal winning stuff.

I know I can always depend on your support :thumbsu:.

Sneaky, underhanded tactics aren't your go. Honesty is always at the forefront :hearts:
