Queensland pair Martin Love and Ashley Noffke have been added to the list for the first time.

Matthew Elliott, Michael Hussey and Michael Kasprowicz will not be offered new contracts.

Will Noffke be in for the same bagging as Bracken got over the summer? He is even less experienced, and doesn't have the advantage of being a left-armer.
His first-class record is 24 wickets @ 27 (which is similar to Bracken's 40 wickets @ 27), and his List A one-day record is 13 wickets @ 41 (compared to Bracken's 26 wickets @ 28).

Good on the selectors for picking another young paceman, his form at season's end was very good and those in the know reckon he will be a top-line bowler.
I'm just wondering if he'll come in for a bucketing on BigFooty, amid allegations of a selectors' Queensland bias.

Disappointing for Michael Hussey. He knows what he has to do to get himself back in the ACB selectors good books. I'm hoping he'll have a huge year with Veletta as coach

I've never seen Ashley Nofke, but can someone tell me how he got in front of Inness.

Inness is younger, has more first class experience, has a much better record, Noffke's List A record is ordinary.

I can't work out how they've gone for Noffke infront of Inness.
In fact i don't know how Bracken got in front of Inness at the start of this season.

Well how smart are the selectors, the one area we seem to be short in at the moment is openers, Hayden has cemented his spot but Slater is struggling, so what do the selectors do, they dump two alternatives in Elliot and Hussey!! If they were going to replace these guys why not Jamie Cox! Martin Love, youve gotta be joking, whos he gonna get a game in front of? Ponting? Martyn? The Waughs? Dont make me laugh, Trevor Hohns hand in your resignation son, you are the weakest link!

i agree with Martin Love's selection.

I think he is very deserved of a contract after a good summer.

WCE, im not disputing he has had a good summer, my point is that Jamie Cox would have had a similarly good if not better summer, he is an opener and there would seem to be a more realistic chance that we would need to bolster the top order rather than the middle order. If Slater has a disastrous tour of England, would Love be a replacement? The only other contracted player you could consider is Blewett, if Elliot or Cox start the new season in great form surely they would get the nod in front of Love for a top order spot! So whats the point, if a middle order batsmen fails we have the option of Martyn and Katich. You must also conced that Langer isnt in great form either, again a top order player! Not that it matters, contract or not they would pick the most in form replacement at the time, but it must be disheartening for players who have done nothing wrong.

No complaints about Noffke - he's bowled well (in Qld, mainly) but I think he'll need to back it up again next summer to be considered a possibility. With Lee and Gillespie perennially falling to one injury or another we do need back up, but the names Noffke and Bracken don't inspire me much.

Dropping Hussey from the list is insane. Cox is 31, Blewett is never an opener IMHO, the ACB don't like Elliott, so why give up on the one batsman left who can fill the spot in the short to medium term? It shows a foolhardy faith in Slater.

As for Martin Love; if Siddons, Lehmann, Bevan, Martyn and Co. couldn't find a regular place in the Australian team, I don't see a spot for Love.

Seems to me that they are treating Matthew Eillott the same treatment they gave Dean Jones! Humph

Noffke got in on one good game. Victorians have to play 10 seasons of good games to even get considered, let alone selected.
