Now the dust is settling on this report and getting away from the Essendon issue, it is looking like this report is a lot of piss and wind as well. Had the chance to read an edited version on the way back from Brisbane today and it is something any half decent journo could have put together by making 1+1=3 and tying it all up with a bunch of words like "chance" ,"probability", "possible" , "likely"
,"suggest" etc
They could have put it on on page by saying we believe there is a strong chance of some players being involved in illegal drug taking in Australian Sport as well as a possibility of some match fixing.

Yes there will be some caught out in this but it is no where near at the level of hype produced on Wednesday and is looking likely much like most of it is seems to be an NRL problem, some of which may have already been dealt with by the NRL already.

This is a big issue but it is too bad it has been dealt with the way it has given the fact that it has been reported overseas that drugs are rife in Australian Sport when clearly it is not the case.
Another fail for the the modern media and social media frenzy where you just bore ahead despite a total lack of facts and then never admit you are wrong

I agree, in that the way this has been handled by the government authorities and the media has created panic, discredited virtually every major code in Australia, it has tarnished every player. It's like a massive who-dunnit at the moment, where everyone is a potential drug cheat and match fixer.

And a lot of that seems unnescessary. The generalising in the report etc is staggering. The sooner they start naming names and substances and issue punishments the better, because I don't think this is anywhere near as bad as they are making out. The major issue in the AFL seems to be in how legal substances were taken in innapropriate ways. If that is the case, this has been disgracefully handled.

Not in the edited version and i think that has already been denied anyway. The copy i read was a bunch of waffle about nothing at all really. The only copy with any actual names or clubs will be the one in the hands of the police who now have to work out what is what but even the word in Brisbane the last couple of days has been police have not got enough evidence to go forward with a lot of it.

Another clanger was the Gold Coast stadium episode where the number of urine samples in vials ended up being 1 jam jar with an unkown liquid in it stashed in a change room toilet and ASADA where not interested in it. Another example of things being reported with out fact and in the Courier Mail it was not even reported as alleged.

As you've said nothing from what I've read actually states anything has been done, it's all speculation surrounded by "possibly this, possibly that".

Sections have been taken out, so where a page may go on and say Team X C Y and O have alleged suspect practices or links it has been shortened to say some teams have alleged suspect practices and there where no pages at all where any players where named in any manor as you would suspect.

I don't think "chance" ,"probability", "possible" , "likely", "suggest" etc are much of an indicator of the strength of the cases they are referring to. In this situation, with most of the details still confidential, even the most airtight case would be referred to with uncertainty until formal action is taken. It's a bit like using 'alleged' until guilt is proved.

Can't help but feel that this is one hell of a storm in a teacup. We're all waiting for something big to happen, but all we get are possibilities and baseless allegations.

We have 'The Pharmacist' pleading his innocence and now suing for $10m, our ex-Vice Captain vehemently denying any wrongdoing in the club and EFC seeking a clean bill of health by playing ball with all relevant regulatory parties. But all the while, the media still have a hard on to see us fail?

Injecting off site is suspicious! Is it really? I don't know bout anyone else but when I get a shot I sure as hell don't get it done in my living room!? I go to a medical clinic!

Injecting is the stomach is odd! Why is it odd? Just because it sounds odd to you doesn't make it odd! If you're not in the medical field don't proport to know stuff that you have absolutely no idea about!

What am I missing here? Where are we guilty? Why do the greater public seem so adamant that we are a bunch of drug cheats?
