For all those who bought the game on PS2 and XBox with the bug, you will be able to send it in and get a replacement free of charge.

Only catch seems to be you have to send it to them and then they will send you a new copy - not sure how postage will work but they are claiming they will cover all costs.

Dear Acclaim Gamer,

As advised previously we are now in a position to give you an accurate update on the current situation regarding AFL Live 2004 on Xbox and PlayStation 2.

As you are aware there has been a technical issue discovered in the game which in particular, has caused problems in selecting your own team setup when playing in Season Mode and some commentry inconsistencies. We have re-coded the game correcting these issues in order to improve the experience that is AFL Live 2004.

Our Customer Service Team will be in contact with you shortly with the details on how you go about exchanging your current copy with a replacement copy of the game.

The basic process will involve returning your copy of the game directly to us with our aim being to send out a replacement within 48 hours of receipt. Exact details are still being finalised, but please be assured we will pay for all postage costs involved in order to make the transition as straight-forward and easy as possible for you.

We would like to extend our sincerest apologies for the inconvenience this may have caused you, but can assure you that we have taken significant steps to ensure an increase in our Quality Control procedure as a direct result of this and would like to thank you for your continued support of our products.

Yours Sincerely,
Acclaim Entertainment

the above email was sent to me when i registered with the acclaim info email address..... i understand another email will follow.

still find it darn stupid that they didn't give the game to some folks who would have been fans and let em run with it for a week, prior to its release - surely one of them would have said "gee the commentary's warped" or "gee the season mode thing's buggered up". somehow it got through. this replacement thing will cost them tens of thousands of dollars, if not more..... think about it - postage there and back, replacement disc, extra r&d, bad public relations, yada yada.

I've already taken my copy back to the stores cos they told me over the phone a replacement would be in the stores on 29/9
ne1 know if there will still be one?

I hope Electronics Boutique decide to allow people to exchange their old copy for an updated copy as that would be much easier for me, otherwise I'll have to send it back to Acclaim and exchange it that way.

Update from Acclaim regarding AFL 2004

Received two emails, (posted below) from Acclaim with instructions on what to do to return your old AFL 2004 game for an updated copy.

Dear Acclaim Gamer,

I am writing to give you an update on the current situation regarding our recent title AFL Live 2004. As you are aware there has been a technical issue discovered in the game, which in particular, has caused problems in selecting your own team setup when playing in Season Mode and some commentary inconsistencies. We have re-coded the game correcting these issues in order to improve the experience that is AFL Live 2004.

We have now finalised the process for returning your copy of the game directly to us with our aim being to dispatch a replacement copy within 48 hours of receipt.

Please send your game CD and instruction manual to the following address:

Once again, we would like to extend our sincerest apologies for the inconvenience this may have caused you, but can assure you that we have taken significant steps to ensure an increase in our Quality Control procedure as a direct result of this and would like to thank you for your continued support of our products.

Yours Sincerely,

Acclaim Entertainment.

Hello again!

I should have been clearer about what we do and don't need in the last email.

In order to issue the replacement game we will need you to send in your CD and manual, however we do not need you to send in the box / case which the game came in. It doesn't matter if the CD gets damaged in the mail, as we simply need them back for Royalty purposes, so feel free to post it in the smallest envelope it will fit in with the manual.

Of course we will also need your return address to send the replacement to so please include this with the CD and Manual!

My apologies for any confusion.

Cheers,

Acclaim Entertainment.

Is what was said in ScouseCat's email legit?

Its just that sending a $100 game back in an envelope by itself seems to be a little risky, unless we know that we will get a replacement copy.

WRONG!

I work on service desk at Kmart (casually) and we do not allow the return of games at all. However, there is one exception, if the game is faulty, we will exchange the game for the exact same game. The game cannot be exchanged for any other game. New Copyright laws prevent us from giving exchanges for other games.

When was the last time you took a game back? It is very rare (at the store I work at) that we allow people a refund, or an exchange for a different game.

just spoke to eb games highpoint. they are aware of the swap and it is all legit a new version of the game will be released in 2-3 weeks.

keep copies of any mailing documents or register your mail if you want but the swap by mail is the way to go, they are still unsure of a patch for the pc version, but it will also be replaced.

Got mine today. Comes with a questionnaire that asks at one point if you would be willing to partake in playtesting of AFL Live 2005! Ah, my dreamjob.

How did they return it? In another Box and sealed? Are there any changes to the manual?

Sent mine away Thursday...Hope to get it back this week.
