Essendon have almost mastered everything. The only thing they need to work on is their kicking for goal. They should have a whole training course based on accuracy. It almost cost us the game last night.

Im pretty sure we havn't, if we had of we would be alot higher on the ladder. There's still a lot of work to do. We need to work on our Disposal a bit more, and we need to help out around the ground a bit more and work as a team (backline specifically). We need to win alot more out of the middle and be alot harder at the ball (bring in Hislop to show em how it's done), and accuracy of course, it's pathetic, theyr'e elite footballer for gods sake!

Its a mental thing, goalkicking. They can hit a target on the ground but they cant kick it in between a 6.5 mertre gap. I just think they have to thuink less about kicking a goal and just kick it straight, if that makes sense. The one thing that I was always taught as a tacker was dont kick at the goals, just pick out a point behind goals and kick at that. Maybe something as simple as this can help them.

Your right, it's all a mental thing. My coach told me that also, and it seems pretty easy and straight forward, yet alot of AFL players can't do it.
If we had of kicked straight last night would have been over long before it was and against Nth if we kicked straight it could have been a different game. Bad kicking is bad football though.
And against Carlton it would have probably been the same story. 7.9 we kicked in that first qtr, imagine if it had been 13.3 instead. I know you can't base it around that because a goal instead of a behind may have changed the whole outcome but 16 shots at goal for that result is piss poor.
We have kicked 136 goals, 121 behinds for the season. Not good enough!
There it is, right there. Definitely not good enough.
I think the players during the match review should point out what misses at goal are unacceptable for professional footballers. Then to motivate the players for accuracy each 'easy' miss should be a $100 fine to the player that goes towards the end of season footy trip. Works kind of like a swear jar.

Haha, actually not a bad idea, can keep the fun side to it also as well as trying to fix the problem

Would hate to be Bachar though. He would have already forked out about $500. Form a first year slalry, that is a fair whack.
Good point. Maybe the rule can be there for specialist forwards (Lucas, Lloyd, Johns, Monfries etc) and players over 100 games.
I still reckon it would provide a good incentive not to miss.

as much as i like lucus... i bklame him for most of it.... he is a goal guts
everytime he gets the ball he has a shot... no matter where he is....i think he should pass a bit more and we will kick more goals
