We are the most accurate team in the league this year. Checked the stats up to Rd 16 (http://afl.allthestats.com/statistics/seasreview.php) and we are definitely the bast in terms of goals-per scoring shots' Plus Rd 17 we were very good again (17.10 wasn't it?).

So is this a good sign or not? Can be looked at in a few ways.

Pro:
1) Our goal-kicking skill level has gone up (not just Richo!)
2) Our game plan is leading to better and easier shots for goal
3) We are sharing it around more on the forward line to ensure we get a good shot for goal, rather than just having Brown and Richo take the shot as soon as they get it.

Con:
1) We pinched a few games purely by more accurate kicking (arguably the game against the Lions).
2) Our opponents are also very accurate (2nd best in league- behind Eagles opponents)- does this mean our game plan also lets opponents have easy shots for goal?
3) In games decided by less than a goal, we are 3-1-1. The Bulldogs, Lions and Power had more shots than us. The saints had less. (The bombers had more, but only if you include Bowden's two walk-throughs).
We could be 1-1-3, and that would put us below Essendon and Carlton on the ladder.

So are we being flattered by our good goal-kicking?

i don't think we're being flattered we are using the ball into the forward line and creating better shots on goal.
I commented on Sat night that i'm no longer petrified about players in our forward line having shots anymore as most of them a good kicks, only one that still worries me is Simmo as he has a propensity to kick a couple of shockers.
JR, MM , CH , NB and BD all are very good kicks which is something we have been lacking for a while now at tigerland.
Good to see, confidence when kicking well is a wonderful thing keep it up tigers.:thumbsu:

Think our kicking has improved tremendously this season, and Id hate to say it too soon but even Richo has become a relaible kick this season:eek:

Not sure if Brian taylor is still down there, but someone's finally done something with the Cho.

I doubt anyone has done anything. Seems to me more like his move to the wing has meant he gets a few field kicks before he has to shoot for goal and his confidence is consequently higher. Classic example Sat night when his first kick was a set shot. Missed by a mile but after 2 quarters up the ground was deadly in last quarter.

I was thinking about this the other night too.

But then I realised - this is a game of skill. If we win due to our superior goal kicking skills then we thouroughly deserve the 4 points.

It would be the opposite to a baseball fan saying "Our players kept striking out, otherwise we were the better team..."

There is no difference between when a midfielder turns it over and when a forward misses a goal.

If all your midfielders turn it over then you lose the game.

If all your forward miss goals, then you run the same risk.
