No troll here... just read this in the Australian:

The Carlton hit list will include names such as Brisbane's Tim Notting, who has only been offered a one-year-deal by Brisbane; Essendon's Adam McPhee, who is yet to agree on terms with the Bombers, Adelaide forward Scott Welsh who remains in contract dispute with the Crows; Kent Kingsley, who quit the Cats during the VFL finals series; Geelong midfielder Tim Callan, and Hawthorn's Nick Ries and Josh Thurgood, two of six Hawks delisted yesterday.

Was wondering why there has been no agreement with Adam yet. Does anyone know what he is asking that might be causing delay? I would think he would be number one priority for the Club to retain - he is one of my favourite Essendon players - an absolute gun defender and playmaker with just the right amount of mongrel in him. Would love to see him at the Blues, but surely he will be re-signed?

McPhee will no doubt sign.
What are we offering though?
I think he deserves 2-3 year contract at least.

Essendon really should re-sign McPhee. He's a great player. Although the Blues would be delighted to pick him up in the PSD, the Dons would be silly to let him go IMO. :)

Let me translate -

Just incase McPhee ends up at Carlton, I'll get in early and pump him up as a quality footballer. However, if he does re-sign at Essendon, I'll be very quick to dismiss him as an ordinary footballer with little talent.

Not reading much into it at all...just another media beat up, linking a team to any high profile uncontracted player.

Think what you want. McPhee is a very good player - have never said otherwise. I don't like seeing good players leave clubs over silly pay squabbles, esp. Vic Clubs. I'm sure Sheed's will re-sign him shortly. :)

i agree with you parrot  hehe

If Mcphee goes I will be shocked..
I strongly doubt Essendon will let him go.

Hawks axed: Matthew Ball, Luke Brennan, Nick Ries, Ben Kane, Harry Miller and Josh Thurgood.

Blues: Ian Prendergast, Trent Sporn and Troy Longmuir.

Dees: Nick Smith, Phillip Read and Shannon Motlop.

Will Ess pick up one or two of em?
More will get de-listed including our guys...looking forward to the PSD.

In percentage terms, where do you guys think this is at?

60/40 - Essendon
70/30 - Essendon

IMO, he's likely to stay at Essendon

Thoughts??

I'm a bit surprised he hasn't signed up but you'd think there would be some strong rumours in the papers or on t.v if he was a chance to go.

If Bolton and Pev can manage to get themselves a new deal, then I will very surprised if the same didn't happen to Smokey

Small difference. Bolton and Pev are hanging onto a career, they need to take anything they can get.

McPhee could walk into most clubs and demand a contract.

Bolts and Pev are very much, take it or leave it, type players.
Signing McPhee is going to take some level of negotiation.

It amazes me how a player who has played one n a half ordinary seasons, albeit due to injury can make demands at this stage.

An attitude like that would surely put him on the outer with the senior group, let alone the football heirachy...

And this is why the rumours of his 'disenchantment' are buzzing around. There is some conjecture over McPhee's popularity with the playing group. However, it's so easy to label a player who hasn't re-signed at this time of year with the PSD coming up and tragics ready to digest any footy scrap going around.

I've wondered if maybe we're possibly so far under the cap now, with Solly gone and Bolton, Hird and JJ etc on less that we might have to frontload Mcphee's a bit to deal with that, depending on what we do in the PSD. So just keeping our options open by not signing off on it yet.
